The WNIT?

Just reading the Big South weekly report and it said the WNIT has expanded to 48 teams to allow every conference an auto-bid???? The Big South is giving it to the highest regular season finisher that doesn't win the tourney. Anyone know any more about this?

Its all part of the deal where the NCAA bought the NIT. What you described is the case from what I understand.

Riddle me this, Batman:
Would you rather make it to the Final Four in the WNIT... or lose in the 1st round of the NCAA's?

I think I'd take the first round loss in the NCAAs...can the majority of us on this board name last year's WNIT champion??? I may be wrong here, and someone please tell me if I am, but it seems to me that making the WNIT doesn't grab you any national attention...no matter how deep you go in it.

the NIT is more for giving younger, developing team a place to get better and in a tournament like setting...if they going into it thinking they are going to be recognized nationally they have another thing coming

Nice to have a plan B. I personally wouldn't mind a NIT bid. Not sure what the chances of a home game would be but would have a better chance of winning this year. With the number of Ls we have this year we would probably be 13/14 seed.

I'll be honest here. I didn't even know there was a WNIT until I read this. That pretty much sums up my position on this one.

I think you're all a bunch of NIT-wits...

...I'd take a final four in a consolation tourney all day before a loss in the 1st Round of the NCAA.

I agree Fumros. We actually get made fun of by some the ESPN analysts by making it to the NCAAs and losing in the first round every year

I've never seen us get made fun of...indeed, most seem to think we've gotten screwed over in past years (Mechelle Voepell mentioned in her anti-Falwell rant when we went to the Sweet 16 how we always managed to end up a low seed playing one of the SEC's best) but rather they seem to have some sort of respect for us...just not our lowly conference.

Mechelle Voepel...
...just another member of the "he-woman man-haters" club that I wish would dry up and blow away.
