The most successful program on Liberty Mountain deserves its own forum. We give Coach Green and the Lady Flames their props while breaking down their run to the Big Dance once again.

I was sitting here in the lab just after I got out of class and I came up with this interesting bit of statistical knowledge:

In liberty's 12 wins the margin of victory has been <10 pts 3 times (vs George Mason, vs. Virginia, vs. Coastal Carolina) with an average margin of victory of 24.83 points

In their 8 losses the margin has been 10 pts or greater only twice (vs. Marist and vs. JMU) with an average margin of defeat of 9.38 (9.375 exactly) points.

The stat hound does it again...thanks BJ.

One thing of note though, the loss against JMU was by 10 points, not greater than 10.

I think in fairness you could take out the top and bottom scores (like the Olympic judges.)

I would take out the Columbia Union game from the wins and the Marist game from the losses. Columbia Union was ridiculously out matched and during the Marist game a different team dressed as our players showed up...actually, come to think of it, it may have been the girls from Columbia Union.

Well taking your advice FSN, and reaveraging the remaining 11 wins (after factoring out the Columbia Union game as you suggest) the average is 20.27 points. If we do the same to the remaining 7 losses (removing the loss to Marist as you also suggest), the average margin of defeat drops to 5.25 points

I just found another one:

This year Liberty is 8-5 when Megan Frazee is their leading scorer (she did have one game where she shared high points) and just 4-3 when someone else leads in the points column. Also, LU is 10-5 when one of the triplets leads (or is coleader) in points.

I pulled this one from the game notes: Carey Green is one of only 3 coaches in the top 20 in win percentage that has served for less than 10 years in their current post (Kristy Curry at Texas Tech and Tom Collen at Louisville are the others)
