I saw that this morning and was a tad suprised.
I have seen Tech play. I have seen LU play. LU is better

Yes, but we've never beaten Tech...I am surprised that we aren't getting votes in the preseason though...sorry Critic, I must've missed Pitt when looking through it

have you seen them play this year in the preseason?

Yep. Granted Tech is/was younger, but LU looks strong. They have their weaknesses (and it is a pretty evident one) but they look real good, much better then Tech in not just my opinion but Mrs Purple as well

Until we prove it on the floor, we have no room to complain.

well hopefully this is the year we knock off VT. I am very tired of LU losing to them.

I would love to beat Tech too but it really doesn't matter in terms of the overall success of the season. However beating an in-state team that is percieved as great will help promote the program around the state.

I'm hoping for a sweep of the Wahoos and the Hokies

THere is only ONE way we will NOT beat Tech. That is if our ladies look at the name on the Jersey. We are deeper, more skilled, better conditioned, taller and bigger (although you really don't want to say that in Women's hoops) Sometimes you don't THINK you should beat a team and lose. IF we do that we will lose again. We have the talent on the floor to beat them by about 15

NCAA Tourney rankings also. To notch a victory against an 06 tournament team from the ACC. The computers will love it

SCAR, as Haize said, I completely disagree. A win over Tech would give Liberty a chance at a higher seed come tournament time. Same with games against teams like Marist, Bowling Green and George Washington. I'd even say those games are more important than the Big South games.

The conference is going to be a walk for Liberty this year, IMHO. The league had its chance last year when Megan got hurt, and no one could get the job done. Winthrop will be improved, but they have no shot against a Frazee-led Liberty team.

I think you are correct guys and I agree. My only point is that sometimes we make that Tech game out to be the SuperBowl or something and I realize it's implications in terms of the NCAA tourney and rankings. I will disagree with you Chris about the big south games not meaning anything. If we lose those games it could kill us. I think you meant to say assuming we win the conference games, those non-conference matchups can go a long way.

SCAR I agree, and that was a round about way the point I was trying to make. IF we treat Tech like "The Big Game Played in Late January/Early February" we will probably freeze up (no pun intended) and lose. IF we treat them like another team, we will easily beat them. The Big South for the most part is a really good AAA high school conference and brings us down. In the pre conference schedule is where we have to make our bones.

Wake up SCAR!!!!!!! We haven't beaten them in 12 tries. This is a big game not only for our pride (getting that first win over VT) but for the NCAA's too as long as we handle our business in the Big South.

Critic, I am definitely up. Ask coach Green and the players how important that game is. I think he would agree with me. It would be great to beat them and I know we will be pumped for the game. They will not however burry their heads in shame or be suicidal if they lose. The series is not important either. I want to beat them this year though because as Haize said, we are probably better.

SCAR ... obviously, the games mean something in the Big South. I just meant to say that I don't think they'll be all that competitive.
