He hasn't confirmed on Facebook, but it appears Alexis Sherard is indeed going to accept the head coach position at CCU. Terrific hire by Coastal but obviously it will be tough to see him in teal.
It will be interesting to see how Coach Green approaching filling the vacancy here.

Good luck to Coach Sherard if indeed true Sly, and best wishes to him (although now he will get to lose to LU at least twice a year)

I was thinking the same thing, Haize. Glad to see you are moving over to the Bright Side.
Coach Sherard has been an amazing asset to LU and I suspect he will be to CCU as well. We'll let the Chants have him for awhile until we need him to come back down the road.

I had been hearing rumors of her being up for a couple of vacant head coach positions. But she'd certainly be a great asset to her alma mater.

FlamesNation now tweeting that reports of Alexis to CCU may be premature.

Coastal wont be in the BS much longer either.
Head coach v Ast Coach

Beach v Lynchburg
Newer facility
Lots of reasons

Coach Sherod chose to essentially change careers and become a women´s coach almost exclusively because he and his entire family love LU and Lynchburg and didn´t want to leave. I would think the same thing applies here.
To be head coach at CCU certainly would have been a great opportunity, but it seems an assumption is being made here that he turned the job down. Do we really even know if he was offered?

I have to say that the Vines is not a good facility for WBB at this level. Less than 1000 fans in an 8000 seat arena is not conducive to a good game atmosphere, and the facility is far from new. I´m sure upcoming renovations will correct some issues, but it will still be too big.
CCU´s facility is Brand new, beautiful, and a more realistic size.

It wasn't so long ago that crowds for women's home games could only be accomodated by the Vines... and Winthrop's court.

There is a bit of revisionist history going on regarding the crowds our WBB team used to draw. We had ONE game when we drew about 5000, and a few others in the 3000 to 4000 range. The best year we had we averaged a Little over 2000. I would say in the highly successful history of our WBB program you could count on your fingers the number of times you couldn´t have put the crowd in CCU´s arena. Might not even need the second hand.
For each of those games there a dozen when we had 500 or less in the cavernous Vines. The atmosphere for all of those games would have been much better in a smaller venue.

Too bad they tore down Schilling. Much more appropriate seating capacity. I wouldn't trade any other teams facilities for what we have. Just think, when we get into the ACC, we will be selling out our women's games, even.
