Avery Warley Appreciation Thread

If we are having a thread for Jesse Sanders recognizing his accomplishments, why not Avery Warley?
She is the all time leader in rebounds in LU and Big South history. She had been "banged on" playing the post for 4 years and you NEVER saw her lose her cool. She is a 5th year graduate student in counseling who came out of DC public school system and grew into a great young woman and matured in her faith while at LU. Like Jesse, Avery lead by example. She will be missed sorely

Agreed, she was a vacuum on the boards, sometimes competing against players much taller than she was. She didnt get the level of notoriety that Jesse did but you have to think they both will be prominently mentioned when their names come up for HoF consideration in 2017

Count me among the Avery fans. Had she not followed Megan & Katie who had raised expectations so high I believe she would be given more attention. It could be argued that at most other Big South schools, she would be the unquestioned best player in their program history. She was a special player for us who will be greatly missed next season.

Excellent career here. Not drafted by the WNBA, but I would think she'll get a chance in someones camp.

Fantastic player. I have no idea how she didn't get drafted today. 12 teams missed on a great player.

Im not suprised she didn't get drafted. She is a very nice player but I'm not sure she is one of the top 36 in the country. (that's how many picks there were). Teams draft needs as well so that reduces the amount of spots as well. I will NOT be suprised to see her get an invite or two and see her have a nice career overseas if she so chooses.

Avery already making a statement:

Making up for the scoring gap was returning guard Alexis Gray-Lawson. She exploded for a game-high 34 points on 11 of 21 shooting. Rookie Sammy Prahalis led the team with seven assists while Avery Warley and Zane Tamane each paced the team with 13 boards.

Avery was always a warrior on the glass so the fact that that stuck out to them from the get go doesnt surprise me. Looks like I'll be watching the WNBA on Sunday after church

In 2009 we had 2 future WNBA players at the same time. While Avery was a redshirt freshmen, Megan Frazee was a Senior.
