I am disappointed with the 16th seed. I don't know if it is due to our subpar out of conference schedule performance or is the Big South rated that low. I was expecting a 14 or at least a 15. Very disappointed with that.
#384713
The Big South really is that low. We also have no quality wins.

The NCAA, at least on the women's side, still goes for the potential story if it's close on the lower seeds. It's not surprising that we got this spot, instead of a 14 or 15, when they had the opportunity for the Catholics vs Protestants storyline. We were probably a 14 or 15 in 98 when we went undefeated, but the opportunity to match up the 2 undefeated teams helped ensure we would be the 16 against Tennessee. Considering how little interest there is in the women's game, I can't say that I disagree with the approach.

I think you are right. Of course, they are not supposed to consider anything like this and would probably deny they did if you waterboarded them.

Despite being undefeated in 98, we may have still deserved a 16 seed (but not the 64 overall). The BSC was even weaker then than now, and our non-conference schedule was pitiful.

I think we got shafted with a #16 seed. should have been higher. this deal enforces my beliefs that the most unethical organization in sports is the NCAA selection committees. granted they haev a tough job, but some of their decisions defy logic. NCAA needs a rule thqt states no conference champion will be a 16 seed. all champions earned their way into tournametn. the at large teams had to get a gift from selection committee

I agree we are not the 64th best team in this tournament. There are at least a dozen teams in the tournament that we can beat.

Correct. I referred to the 64th seed in regard to the undefeated 98 team which had to face the Tennessee juggernaut led by Chamiqua Holdsclaw, and I think it was misunderstood. Notre Dame isn't the overall #1 seed this year. That would be Baylor. Notre Dame is no bargain, but it's sure better than facing Griner and co. Been there, done that (last year). It wasn't pretty.

I agree with all that but their are teams seeded 15th that we are heads and shoulders better than, including having a tougher schedule and a higher RPI. I know it's not much but when we were a 13 seed a couple years ago we nearly beat Kentucky. We probably didn't do anything to warrant a seed higher than 15 but it's better to play the 7th or 8th best team than the 2nd best team in the country with probably the 2nd best player in the country behind Greiner and on their floor.

Maybe if we had actually won a meaningful game this year, we wouldn't be having this conversation.

(and if you think beating High Point twice is a quality win(s), I give up)

Sorry I just disagree. I just don't see where we have a right to complain about a 16 seed, after all didn't I predict it?

Here were our two non-conference wins this year: Lipscomb (6-23), UNC Greensboro (4-25). Still wondering why we have a 16 seed?

To be honest, arguing that we shouldn't be a 16 just because of who we're know for being in women's hoops is actually a much more logical argument.

Sorry for being harsh but I can't see what the fuss is.

Samford: Lower RPI, worse record, losing road record = 15 seed.
Navy: 88 spots lower RPI, worse record, losing road record, losing neutral site record = 15 seed.

Looking at the overall mix of things, Liberty and Hampton should have replaced those two as 15 seeds.

I still say that this was done for the potential storyline of Catholics vs Protestants. If LU hangs with them at all, it will give the talking heads their talking points without having to do much real research.

Loses to Oklahoma, VCU, JMU, UVA and Richmond can tell the selection comitteE a lot
Oklahoma is a 6th seed, and no other team we played made the tournament.

Really? Catholics v Protestant is hat you are hanging your head on? Maybe if it was like an 8/9 match up or something, but not a 1/16.

I guess the bingo revenue isn't helping with the shortfall in the Catholic Pedophile Defense Fund, thus the charging of future victims of Catholic pedophiles full price admission.
