Winthrop's women's team lost 53-16 to Southern Poly Tech an NAIA team

That's a real puzzler. Not saying they are good, but just a week earlier they competed well on the road against VT, losing by only 5. They have also been blown out by Lander and NC A&T.

I live about 15 min from Southern Poly to be fair they are a halfway decent team ranked top 10 in NAIA however getting blown out like that is very puzzling.

This is exactly why we'll still win the Big South. We might be down, but the whole league is down.

As for Winthrop, they've constantly been at the bottom of the barrel in Women's Basketball. Ironically enough, about 2/3rd of their student population contains women.

We have had some results that were disappointing so far this year, but I reject the idea that we are "down". We only lost one player, and we have 2 newcomers who have essentially beaten out returning players for starting jobs. With Devon back, I think this team can still not only win the BSC, but finish strong and possibly do something in the tournament, although our early results may condemn us to too poor a seed for that.

I would have to agree. About the best we could do is probably a 14 seed at this point. But you never know. We played Kentucky very well last year, and they went on to the Final Four. No shame in that.

I think we'll have agood idea where the team is headed after the first 4 conference games which are all on the road, I believe. If we can come out 3-1 0r 4-0 then we can negin to breathe a little easier. We haven't played well on the road yet.

Maybe Winthrop should play high school JV teams instead so they can have competitive games.

Even better. Tennessee State lost to Georgia Tech 82-11 tonight.

TSU shot 3-for-50 (6 percent!!) and had 35 turnovers. It was 49-3 at halftime.

Yes they can. Believe me YES THEY CAN. I have seen some of them in person. It can be even worse in HS. Ugh.
