Lynchburg, Va.

The Liberty University women’s basketball team accumulated a 3.338 team grade point average during the 2005-06 school year, tying with Lehigh for 14th among all NCAA Division I institutions.

Head coach Carey Green’s Lady Flames were included on the recently released Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Academic Top 25 Honor Roll. The list was topped by South Dakota State, whose women’s basketball team averaged a 3.730 GPA.

Seven of the 14 players on the 2005-06 team roster earned recognition as part of the Big South Conference Presidential Honor Roll. Junior Karolina Piotrkiewicz, sophomore Allyson Fasnacht and freshmen Alexandria Bream, Megan Frazee, Molly Frazee, Moriah Frazee and Rachel Hammond each recorded a GPA of 3.0 or better to merit inclusion. Additionally, Fasnacht was a member of the Big South all-academic team at season’s end.

This is not the first time we got this type of recognition. Definately a credit to the coaching staff and the university for this recognition.
