I know it's a ways away . . . . but any idea what the starting lineup will look like this coming fall. Are the injured girls all healthy now? Play Basketball

My guess would be:
Dymond Morgan
Rachel McLeod
Devon Brown
Jelena Antic
Avery Warley

But we'll be very deep with Lakendra Washington, Emily Frazier, Brittany Campbell, Danika Dale, Kylee Beecher, and Tolu Omotola.

1 - Emily Frazier
2 - Jelena Antic
3 - Devon Brown
4 - Kylee Beecher
5 - Avery Warley

Dymond could start the year at the point but I think eventually Emily takes over. Tolu could also push Kylee out of that spot at the four but I don't know enough about Tolu to say for sure.

Yeah from what I've heard about Frazier she could definitely be starting by the end of the year. And I don't see McLeod not starting. She's a SR who has started the past 2 years, and given Carey’s past he always seem to give upperclassmen the nod. Antic played the 4 alot down the stretch, and we have so much depth in the backcourt that I could see her playing the 4 with Beecher backing her up.

We definitely are loaded though.

PG: Dymond Morgan
SG: Jelena Antic
SF: Devon Brown
PF: Kylee Beecher
C: Avery Warley

Emily backs up Dymond
Rachel backs up Jelena
Brittany backs up Devon
Kittery backs up Kylee
Tolu backs up Avery

LaKendra, Danika and Carra come in as the situation warrants, while Jasmine Gardner redshirts

Lakendra comes in for defense and occasional secondary ballhandler depending on who is on the floor. Same with Danika, and Gardner redshirts
I'm guessing you forgot about McLeod?

I notice that Jasmine Gardner is on the roster now. Will they still redshirt her. Bear in mind we have two 6'5" girls coming next year as well. We lose two littles and get two bigs! Play Basketball

Redshirts are generally listed on the roster anyway, so that's not an indication of whether Jasmine will play this year or not. I think that will come down to how healthy our returning players are and whether she brings something to the table that makes us better. My guess is she'll play. I honestly can't remember coach Greene ever redshirting a healthy player who was academically eligible. When you consider the frequency of serious injuries in WBB (mainly ACL), it's a really risky move to take a voluntary redshirt.

COach Green also is the kind of guy who plays everyone to some degree so I think she will see some time. how much remains to be seen

Had Kittery not gotten hurt this year, we were going to redshirt Carra.

That's true SJ. Carra was recruited as a "project". Big girl with limited skills who played against inferior competition in HS. She really wasn't ready, and some coaches might have redshirted her even with Kittery out, but Cary really likes to spread those minutes around.

Kittery on the other hand was NOT redshirted as a freshman, even though we had all of the Frazees plus Egle and Rebecca, and she hardly played at all early on. As it turned out, we needed her later in the season when Moriah got hurt, and if she had redshirted then, last year when she was hurt she would have burned a year of eligibility.

We are absolutely loaded for this year. If Brittany Campbell is finally healthy I can't see how she couldn't start. If you have ever seen her play then you know she is an absolute scorer. We forget just how good she is because of the injuries. She is easily of the same caliber as Devon. Now...how and where? That's a good question. Tough puzzle for Coach Green to assemble, but a good problem to have.

Brittany's good, and I'm a huge Brittany Campbell fan, but she's not the same caliber as Devon. She's a scorer and can shoot but she doesn't have the athleticism that Devon has.

Brittany hasn't played any ball for 2 years. She's kind of like the Tyler Baker of women's hoops. If we get anything out of her it will just be a bonus.

And as for her starting, we are loaded in the backcourt with Emily, Danika, Jelena, Rachel, etc. If she comes in and starts - great. But I don't see it happening.

I imagine Dymond will start at point guard with Emily subbing. The 2 guard will probably be Rachel with either Brittany or Jelena being groomed for next year, or depending on how they handle the position, later this year. Similar to Amber Mays taking over Rachel's point guard position two years ago. Rachel started out until Coach was comfortable with Amber's ability to manage the offense. I also imagine he'll start the two best defenders and best ballhandlers at the 1 and the 2. I have not seen Brittany play and Jelena has a hard time defending quicker guards, at least right now.
