Floyd's Avancini Withdraws From Liberty University
By ValleySportsNow
October 14, 2009
Former Floyd County standout, Brittany Avancini, who signed last April to play basketball for Liberty University in Lynchburg, has withdrawn from the school.
"She withdrew from the school two weeks ago," said Liberty head girls basketball coach Carey Green in an interview Wednesday afternoon."She has a lot of deep roots in Floyd County and she missed home." .....
..... "We did everything we could do to keep her here at Liberty," said Green. "She was making adjustments. Its tough to adjust from high school to a Division 1 program." ....
.... "She was in great shape when she left", added Green. "In fact, she was in better shape then she was in high school." ....
.... Coach Green went on to say, "We are disappointed that she [Avancini] has left our school and program. She is a great shooter, who has a lot of potential. We could have used her this year."
best of luck to her- sometimes it doesn't work out

So, she will be going to school and playing basketball for.................. Floyd County U?
Hopefully for her sake she will realize at some point that a free college education is something you don't pass over just so you can eat mom's home cookin and see your HS sweetheart every day. With this news and Brittany Campbell hurt again, I'm afraid 3 point shots are going to be hard to come by this year.

Avancini is the fifth incoming freshman to ink with the Lady Flames for the 2009-10 campaign, joining early signees Antic, Carra Coy (Summerville, S.C.), Angie Ramey (Clarksville, Tenn.) and LaKendra Washington (Milwaukee, Wis.). The newcomers will join a Liberty team which went 24-9 and won its 12th Big South title in the last 13 seasons this past year.

Angie Ramey? I don't see her on the roster:
11 Jelena Antic G/F Freshman 6-2 Skopje, Macedonia
15 Kylee Beecher F Sophomore 6-4 Roanoke, Va.
40 Devon Brown G R-Freshman 5-10 Waynesboro, Va.
30 Brittany Campbell G R-Freshman 6-0 Rustburg, Va.
54 Carra Coy F Freshman 6-6 Summerville, S.C.
