LU loses 77-64 and appears to have suffered another injury setback. Brittany Campbell goes down with a knee injury, and it didn't look good. I'd be stunned if it wasn't an ACL.

This is one calamity after another for this squad.

Are you kidding me???
This is awful...we're now down to like 4 players!
Why do women tear ACL's so frequently??

Women tear their ACL's five times more than men do.
One of the reasons is women have widers hips than men. That makes the thighs angle more, putting more stress on the knee.
And, no joking aside, some people think it has something to do with the menstrual cycle.
Yes, I looked that stuff up, but only because I remembered discussing it in one of my coaching classes.

I figured you just retained all that from SMGT...if that was the case I knew the program is in far better shape then when I was there!

I remembered it had something to do with their hips but I couldn't remember what so I looked it up. I didn't know about the menstrual cycle stuff.
Also read it has to do with women running more upright than men and bending less at the hip/knee and women having looser joints than men.

The prevailing theory is because of the size of the "notch" the ACL passes through in women is smaller than in men. Most of the other theories have been myth-busted.
There are also PREVENTATIVE conditioning techniques which can be taught. In the end, though, I find that ACL injuries can be attributed to a run of bad luck. However, the rash of injuries we have had IS rather over the top.

This is ridiculous. What is Megan's prognosis?
At this point all we can hope for is to be ready for the conference tourney and try to come out on top.

So the major question is, who is able to redshirt this season?

I may not be up on everything, but I know they used to base redshirts on a percentage of games played. For instance, the kid from UNC who broke his hand a few weeks ago will be able to redshirt even though he played a few games. My concern is that we have passed the "Point of No Return" on redshirting b/c of games played. I hope not, but I think we have.

The magic # is 20% of the schedule. Usually 5 or 6 games.

Just talked to Brittany...
She only played 5 games and thats the magic number, she will get it.
Doesnt know if for sure its a torn ACL yet... We will see... Other than that the NCAA reads this so Ill keep the rest of the thoughts of her injury to myself.

Carey said he sat McLeod because of a knee injury, but it's not a ligament injury. Tendinitis. Either way, she's in a lot of pain and it's affected her play greatly. Neither her nor Megan are expected to go Sunday.

I can't ever remember a team being hit so hard with serious injuries. Depth was going to be a strength this year and now it's all they can do to get 5 on the floor. Brittany was really starting to click too. Maybe for once the MRI news will be good.

SJ is correct.
"Q-angle" is the term.
