From what I have heard she is way ahead of schedule in terms of recovery and i also heard that her knee should be even stronger.

The last I heard is that she was ahead of schedule but that was about 4 months ago. Nice to see that things are getting better for Megan. We need her on the court in a big way.

She has been in the Student Center everyday for the last couple of weeks working out with Moriah and Molly. Their brother has been with them a few times too. I talked to her last week and she has been cleared by the doctor. She is 100% +. Still going to rehab to continue strengthening. She is ready. All three of them have been working hard this off season.

I chatted with the triplets about a week and a half ago at the student center and they were all working out together. That is good to hear the updated status from you hurricane fan.

I think this team has the potential to be better than the Sweet 16 team, if not this year then certainly next.

this team can be a "nasty" team if we stay healthy starting this year and beyond. Can't wait to see what recruits sign with us for the 07-08 season.

They could make the final 4, but Winthrop still wouldn't respect us in the morning :D

While I believe this team can be better than the Sweet 16 team, the question is...can we make it past the Sweet 16? LSU...the overall #1 seed, blew us out in that game and it doesn't matter who we beat the first two rounds, we're going to run into a LSU, Duke, UNC, Tennessee, UConn or whatever in the Sweet 16...if not earlier should we get a more respectable seed like 8 or 9. I believe this team has the potential to go far, including being consistently ranked throughout the season, but I doubt we'll be able to do much more than just "hang" with the Tenn's and UConn's of the world (and by hanging I mean staying within 15 pts).

And Medic...it doesn't matter whether Winthrop respects us or not...they only see one letter on the schedule when they play us, and thats L.

LSU had speed and "girls" on the team and LU didn't. No slap to LU they did have a great season when they went to the sweet 16. But we have to have more team speed and better ball handlers and better athletes to hang with those caliber teams. Tennesee has a huge front line but they are not the quickest team in the country. UNC's women's basketball team has the best speed in the country hands down. Can't wait to see what LU has to bring this upcoming season. I think it will definitely be better.

I think we need to temper our expectations of this team. I really don't think this team is that much better than Katie's team if they are at all. Remember before the Sweet 16 run everyone was saying how tough it was to win 1 game in the NCAA's? Remember how miraculous we thought the sweet 16 run was? How everything came together at just the right time? Now we are talking like the Sweet 16 is a given? This team is not that good fellas. We are very good but not to pencil them into the sweet 16 and Beyond? We need a reality check here. I hope they do it but that may be a bit unrealistic IMO. Having Katie changed the way people had to play Liberty. There is no one out there now that changes a teams scheme of Play. Megan is exceptional and may end up being the best ever but her game is not one that makes you change the way you play Liberty because she is not 6-8. Now if you get another Feenstra with Megan, then I am with you guys. Until then I know it will be tough to win 1 game in the NCAA's let alone 2 or even 3.

I guess the point was being made, and it may be true- I have no idea- that we aren't any worse than any of the other top 50-100 teams in the country.

Remember our discussions of the big drop-off in talent after the top 25- figure at least 7 of the Sweet 16 are evenly matched and in the rounds before that, its all equal.

Just my take on this one.

You can't expect LU to beat the likes of Tenn, LSU, Duke, and UConn. The have much better athletes, play tougher competition, and dump huge sums of $ into their programs. Until we move into a much tougher conference that is way it is going to be.

agreed, I wouldn't expect it either- but I think there has been a legacy of sorts established where we expect the ladies to MAKE the tourney, and it wouldn't be unreasonable to expect a win or 2 in the next coming years- based SOLEY on the lesser level of talent/even level of competetion in the rounds of 64 and 32.

SCAR it seems like part of your post like your mindset is if we have a 6 foot 8 girl then we are going to win. How many teams in this country have a girl that tall. Not that many and most of them are slow anyway. Eventhough Duke has a 6-7 girl and she is a little more versatility. The top teams dont have a tall girl like Katie and they are doing fine. I think come the 07-08 year that this team is going to make a big push in the NCAA's. Winthrop has a tall girl who is about an inch shorter than katie and they didn't get to the sweet 16 this past year.

Steve, a tougher conference isn't necessarily a prerequisite for success in the women's game. Louisiana Tech, Western Kentucky, Southwest Missouri State and Old Dominion have all made Final Fours out of weak conferences. I'll admit, that was in the past. What UConn and Tennessee did was to force other top-level schools to put money in women's basketball, thus the rise of other teams from power conferences (i.e. Rutgers, Michigan State, Baylor, Duke).

I still think it's quite possible for someone at the level of Liberty or Western Kentucky to make a run at a Final Four. You certainly have to play enough tough teams out of league to get acclimated to that level of competition, and you have to have a special player on your roster (i.e. Feenstra or Peniechiero or Jackie Stiles) for it to work.

Point taken Chris. I guess Stephen F. Austin and Florida International have to be added to that list of teams in weak conferences that do the unexpected. Do you think that Megan is that special player from LU. She really impressed me last year.
