The most successful program on Liberty Mountain deserves its own forum. We give Coach Green and the Lady Flames their props while breaking down their run to the Big Dance once again.

Umm, no. The women's team is playing a Final 4 caliber team. If the men were playing UNC they would been down the entire game by 30-40 points. Our women are very good, and are in the midst of one of their best non-conference runs EVER, and that's saying alot considering they've been to the sweet 16 and the NCAA tourny 10 years out of the last 11.

I love our men's team and McKay, but our women are like Winthrop on the men's side. Please don't ever compare our women's team to our men's. If our men's bball and football teams had the success the women's bball team has had in the past 10 years we would already be IA.

Still doing a good job in getting O Rebounds but just not taking advantage of them. Frustrating. Megan fouled out.

We lose 88-67. Allyson came back and played some down the stretch.

That is not an embarassing final score. Didn't get to hear any of it, but sounds like the girls played pretty well.

We should all be proud of the way our ladies hung in there against this team. North Carolina should compete for a national title with the talent that they have.

I am not saying mens and womens are on the same level.

I am saying they have the same downfall.

We played well enough to win, at times.

that many turnovers will always kill you. the fact that unc was 28-40 from the free throw line and we were 7-11 smells like a little home cooking.

Hurricane fan is right.....I was at the game, and I can honestly say that that was the worst game of officiating that I have ever seen. There were 2 female refs and one male ref and he only made 3 CALLS! The other refs would blow their whistle before a foul would occur anticipating it to happen. I usually dont say this about officiating, but it was atrocious. This score does not reflect the game whatsoever. We were as close as 5 points and the refs helped the Tar Heels out. I am not saying they needed the help, but they took what was given to them.

was there too and i pretty much kept my deamenor with some of these calls the refs were making. there were times that we stood straight and they called fouls on us.

Interesting that the 21 point UNC margin was accomplished entirely at the FT line. We played them even from the floor.

I had to do a double-take when I saw the 35 turnovers. This program has a history of turning the ball over too much, but that is ridiculous. I have to think the refs were letting the Heels get away with a lot defensively, but it's still a mind-blowing figure. As great a job as Green has done over the years, I would have to say his inability to teach his teams to value the ball is his greatest weakness. I'm not saying he doesn't work at it; it's just not getting through.

doesn't matter.

You can use that excuse all you want if you want a mediocre team.

We played well enough to win for a good portion of the first and seconds halves.

but there was just too much time where we couldn't do anything right.

i guess that you haven't seen UNC play. They are very fast, they full court press all 40 minutes, they are very physical and they rebound very well. They cause all of their opponents to turn the ball over alot. Even some of the Better teams UNC has played like Arizona State, and Purdue who was in the top 25 this year, UNC forced turnovers with their speed and quickness. i'll agree with you on one part that we did play well at times and hung with them but started to turn it over and it was over then. but the rest of your post i totally disagree with. We are not a mediocre team. If you want to call an 11-2 record mediocre (the team) then i really question your definition of mediocre. We beat JMU who was and is still receiving top 25 votes. We beat Xavier and Houston both of which are normally in the postseason play every year. We will not face that type of athleticism and speed that UNC brings the rest of the season.

Just to clarify, if you don't think we are mediocre than you expect us to run the table between now and March 7th then?

i said nothing about running the table the rest of the way. i was talking about some of the good wins we had this year. that was the number 4 team in the country we played and the level between the top 10 and the rest of the country is totally different. We are good in our own right for the most part (TO's still an issue) but we are not top 10 good.

I get that, the point i was trying to make is even top 25 teams or teams that are trying to become elite ( and not mediocre ) beat the teams they are supposed to beat for the most part. So im not seeing anyone on our schedule who really we shouldn't beat then.......

ill make it simple - a team that is above mediocre is NOT going to choke and lose a Big South game. Since thats basically all we have left and you say were not mediocre (and trying to become elite) you should be predicting that we run the table!

We have a long way and i do mean a long way to go before we are ever an elite (top 10 team year in and year out). I hope we do run the table in the league because we sure didn't have great year last year. I think coach green will have them ready to go when Big South conference play comes. At least i hope he does. I think that this team has something to prove to the rest of the league especially after last year's debacle.

I was saying elite meaning top 25 as you said we beat a team receiving top 25 votes earlier in the thread....when you talked about JMU. We have no shot at being a top 10 team....those teams all have multiple things we haven't had in a Carey Green team. Crazy team speed and ball handling with the ability to create your own shot at will.
