The call in Radford game was terrible. I have never seen a worse one at any level. Granted most, if not all calls made or not made are "judgement calls". the call in question defies judgement, eye site, knowledge of the rules, integrity. Any official who makes a call that bad, should be relieved of his whistle and banned for life. There is no defense for that ref. He was in good position to see the play, yet he still made the bad call. I would haev loved to got him in film room, show the replay and have him explain why he made the call.

And I'm positive a D1 official would put a lot of stock in the critique of a coach with a whopping 3 years of experience. In fact I spoke with him and the supervisor about the call, you would be suprised. I would be interested to hear your break down of the call. If you had the video I'm sure you would be suprised by what actually happened.

The radford guy picked him up and threw him! There's no room for debate here Haize.

Ha. Then I'm thinking about a different play. I'd have to see that one, but I'm still going to say its not the worst call ever at any level.

And the ref said he stepped out of bounds before the foul. If someone talked with the ref and the supervisor, I'd like to hear why he called OB when he did not go OB. I saw it in person from a good angle and saw it several more times on TV.

As I stated, and if you bothered to read, I think we are talking about 2 different situations. But of course Id be more willing to accept the musings of a 3 year veteran of officiating with an emotional investment in the outcome of a game over that of a D1 official with no emotional investment.

I was going to let this go but I can't. Can you seriously type this with a straight face? Refs are human beings and they wouldn't be reffing if they didn't have emotional involvement & investment. To place the referees on some sort of pedestal of impartiality & precision is a bit beyond the scope of reality. Refs make mistakes and hold grudges just like everyone else on the planet.

Yes they are human. (Except Blwall, he is part machine part super hero). But an official has no emotional investment in who wins or who lost. When I am on the bench I have a definite emotional investment in the outcome. When I am watching the glorious Indiana Hoosiers I have an emotional investment. When I don the dri fit and polyester I have no emotional investment in who wins or who loses. Are their teams and coaches that officials enjoy working more then others? Sure. Does it make an impact on who wins or loses? Not at the D1 level and most likely on any collegiate level.
So no, I am not going to put a lot of stock in what a fanboy/ howler monkey says until I have a chance to see the play. Any official with more then 3 years of experience should know that :)

If I recall the play in question correctly, The LU player drove the baseline, as he was going up to basket, the Radford player grabbed him. Everyone in Vines Center saw a foul, except one ref who came "running in", saying LU player stepped out of bounds before the foul, thus Radford got possession of ball.

Everyone at the Vines Center? Even the people working the cocessions? :D
Given the fact that A) most people were watching player and not OB line and B) Most people had a vested interest in the out come of the game, I don't see any reason to pass negative judgement.
Again, until I can see video of the play I will give the benefit of the doubt to the D1 experience over the guy with 3 years of sub college and probably sub Varsity HS experience.

I have decades of basketball watching experience and referee ridicule... That was definitely a bad call! :D

Anyone who says the refs "got that one right", the truth is not in them. I was close to the play and had as good of an angle as the ref did. LU player never came within 4 inches of OB line. I am being very conservative with the 4 inches. It was more than likely 8-12 inches. He did not go OB as ref said.

I think ballcoach is wrong, I think the refs called it travel when Parakowski literally picked him up to prevent us getting the winning layup. It was near under the basket.

(P.S I was at this game!) We lost in overtime.

So two people were at this game. Both people have different memories of the event. Hmmmm

Doesn't solve the question, but this was the game.

I see 2 TO's missed 3 ptr and missed FT. Did the Radford player actually throw the Liberty player to the ground during the FT? If that were the case, it would be the worst missed call ever! :D Otherwise, he hits his FT and nothing else matters

The Brolin Floyd turnover with 11 seconds left in regulation was the one. Parakowski (I don't care enough to spell it right) picked him up to prevent the easy layup and the ref called traveling, hence the turnover.

Plus if he makes the FT the play wouldn't have mattered
