The final poll of the Sweet 16 season. And I believe most in this thread were referring to this year's Top 25 RPI.

The only time we've been ranked before the season ended was march 11, 2003, we were 26-3 before losing to Vandy.

It is great that we get the pub, but it don't mean a thing if you don't win with the Big Girls! I don't know about being called a lurker, I was just feeling that anyone who does look all that highly on the votes would be slammed, so I was just bracing myself, seeing as I am a new guy for the second time

yeah, I was on the old board a while ago under another name and then went MIA... being a DLP Advisor is all consumming at time... plus working at Dr. Diemer's church. I am back now though, but I see the group has changed some since I have been gone, so it is like I am a new guy again

No, there's not much else we can do, everyone we play from here on out is ranked less than 100. So, we won't have any more quality wins. Our only hope to get ranked is to win in the big dance. If we would have beaten Va Tech, we would likely be ranked.

In the USA today poll that came out earlier this week, we are only 3 spots out of the top 25 with 20 votes.

In the RPI you can't move up if you are playing sub-par opponents because it's a strict formula calculated by a computer. In the polls it can happen because it is more subjective, and some of the voters will look at a gaudy record and the fact that we have a couple of quality wins and vote us higher.

Assume we finish the regular season #25 but lose in the tourney (perish the thought) : do we get an at-large?

methinks no.

If we are in Top 25 then I would guess we would sneak in as an at large. But let's not tempt fate.

The Top 25 rankings are not factored into at large berths or seedings. The RPI is what to watch if we need to factor in for an at large, and we are hanging around 30. If we stay there, it's hard to argue against us.
