With Brown leaving it is going to be the first year in a while without a star like Brown, Warley, or Frazee. We just lost out there today.I don't think the loss of Brown will be as big as some people think.

That would be the risk in making a move like that and then that special thing you had for so long is gone and it takes a long time to build back

However if the goal is to be competitive on a national level, then the results speak for themselves.jbock13 wrote:(insert my typical end of the year comment here about coaching)I am with you to an extent...but if we made a switch could it be for the worse? I am worried that losses like this would have him looking elsewhere to get into a more competitive conference where he can recruit better to better prepare him for tourney time.He plays a competitive schedule. He has the resources. Losses like this won't have him looking.
BuryYourDuke wrote:Maybe so. I don't believe we will be significantly better until we change conferences though. Why? If kids want to win Conference Championships and play in the NCAA they can do that here and now. Moving conferences isn't going to change that. The argument may hold true with football but not so much with basketball (Men or Women)

Moving up in a conference does nothing but limit us in our opportunities to get to the NCAAs. We played without 2 starters and played a team that just won the Big 10 conference. I'm disappointed like the rest of you and am already looking forward to next year to see how the team develops without this group of seniors.BuryYourDuke wrote:Maybe so. There was no competition in those days except for 1-2 programs. Now there are multiple teams per conference that are good to very good in each major conference. It's much more difficult to compete that way these days.
NotAJerry wrote:That makes no sense. More difficult to compete what way? We dominate our conference, shouldn't we expect to have success outside of it? Leaving the Big South will not do much if anything to increase the level of recruit we get. Coach Green does an excellent job of getting players that fit his system. Changing conferences will not improve that. In fact, it would probably hurt it.Purple Haize wrote:ODU dominated the CAA for years and it was a horrid conference yet went to the Final Four etc. It's not a conference issue.Women's college basketball might as well be a completely different sport at this point.
