Foul shooting and turnovers will eventually bite us! I know, I know, we're working on this in practice :? Still a gutsy win.

If either of our squads play this poor in High Point, we'll be lucky to get to Saturday, much less the Sunday title game.

If Avery finished with 20 rebounds, she was only 3 short of tyingTeresa Bream's LU record of 23 boards in a single game.

Other than the rebounding, that was the ugliest game I've seen the ladies play in a long time. We still won! By the way- that post player for GW- #11 really reminded me of Katie Feenstra's sister.

She should have had that record. For some unexplained reason Green sat her for 6 or 7 minutes when she got her 3rd foul in the second half. That's 3.............................not 4. She came back in with about 7 minutes left.

Watching the game now on replay MASN, #11 for LU is a turnover machine. From what I saw today we have no one who wants to step up and shoot the ball. Two turnover due to bad ball handling led to steals and gave GWU 4 points. Other times clock gets down and we have to force a shot up. Sloppy offensive play overall for our team.

This IS what they have done all year. Emily Frazier lacks confidence and is not an offensive threat which extends the the play and puts others in a bad position with the clock winding down. Fortunately, DB banked in a 3 pointer as the clock expired on one occasion :o

I thought coach ran a nice offense with the high post short corner combo. We were fortunate the twins were missing their outside shots. We sloughed (is this a word?) off too many times and they had open looks for 3 pointers. We need to be more aggressive on the perimeter.

Overall, we have a good team and should beat BSC teams. I'm still waiting for us to put it all together for 40 minutes.

I won't say any more about FTs or TOs. It's been said ad nauseum. :dontgetit

Why would I want to do that, when clearly you would be the one who has a lack of rules knowledge and interpretation :?:

Coach Reeves used to have 2 daughters who coached with him (both of whom played for LU), but I only saw one of them on the bench. Anyone know what the other daughter is doing these days? Is she coaching somewhere else or a full-time mom?

She took a coaching job at another D1 school - not sure which one. You can track it by goung to their women's BB site.

Well that is awfully big of you to admit you don't know what you are talking about when it comes to officiating. You know, admitting you have a problem means you are half way there!

Not sure when I ever said that. But when it comes to you obviously trying to pick a fight over me noticing one ref who doesn't know what travelling is, its a bit comical. I like you haize. Keep it that way.

Yeah, the whole refs = pope thing is half troll-like, half annoying, and half hilarious. Yes, three halves. Like ManBearPig.

believe it or not, refs are not perfect, and some are downright bad at what they do. Could I do it better? No. Absolutely not. But I know when a chef is doing his job well, even if I can't cook as well as him, so I can tell if a ref is doing his job right even if I don't know how to ref. I consider the final product.

For those that aren't aware, Haize has worked as an official and has a better understanding of the rules and what it's like officiating than 99% on this board. Therefore, it is only natural for him to defend his colleagues.

Interesting comparison. So, if you taste something that you think is awful, but someone who is a trained culinary professional is outstanding, who is right who is to say whether the chef did a good job or not?
I never said that officials are perfect but I will tell you without a doubt that officials, especially at the D1 level, have a more acute understanding of what constitutes a travel then either you or JBOCK. Do officials miss calls? Yep, I KNOW I missed one this past weekend and it makes me mad. Was it because of some lack of rules knowledge or skill? Nope. It was because of the timing of a rotation and what match up I chose to watch. The point being there is a HUGE difference between missing a traveling call, which in this case I am not even sure happened, and not knowing the rule. So if you would like the "troll like" postings to cease, then stick to the way the game was played not officiated

ATRAIN - Normally I would agree with you but with BWALL on the board, I would bump that number up to 99.5% HA

I wasn't defending the notion that a referee doesn't know the rules.

I was pointing out your obsession with defending your fellow zebras as if they were infallible.

Officials can and do affect games with the things they call and do not call (for whatever reason). It would be silly to ignore officiating, as it is a key aspect of basketball games. Your request for "immunity" is even more of an admission of the imperfection of officials that you seem to vouch for at every turn.

Face it, refs miss some calls, and they can be the difference in a close game. One block that's called a charge on a made basket in a 1 point game is the difference in a win or a loss (along with every other basket in the game, but this is one that the player had no control over).

Officiating has been and will always be a topic of discussion for post-game basketball. The overall inconsistency between individual officials in any sport, and the calls that get missed due to the human element of the game, can swing the odds in one team's favor.
