Yea, in fairness to WSET, we really shouldn't expect any coverage on Tuesday at 11 for a Monday Night game... MAYBE at 6 but by the time it's 11, there are a slew of new games to cover.

All in all, WSET has been very good to us.

I hate watching WSET (WSLS wasn't much better but I'll bet Appicello is making those guys work now) when I am in Lynchburg because I just get infuriated at their laziness. But then again, they are getting paid peanuts and their management clearly doesn't cover if they just sit on their duffs.

WDBJ is the class of the news channels in this market....they have given a lot of love to LU this year in athletics as well as the school in general. WSET does give more highlights though.

If I watch any local news I tend to watch WSET just because it's in Lynchburg, and I assume it'd have more Lynchburg-centric stories. Apparently this is not the case.

On the news coverage thing, it always humors me in the Hampton Roads/Peninsula/Northeastern NC market...the newscasts almost seems to go out of their way not to cover any LU scores, let alone any video clips (unless LU plays Hampton or Norfolk State.) It's funny, they'll cover DIII Bridgewater and often have video clips of some of the game, they'll cover the VMI scores, Richmond, Virginia Union, Virginia State and the obvious VT and UVA, but 95% of the time, unless LU plays the aforementioned schools or other Virginia schools, LU gets no love from the three news stations.

I agree (being from that area). About the only way that changes is if an LU grad gets the sports director position at one of the local stations

There was an LU grad over at WAVY TV10, I believe it was, within that last couple of years, though I am not sure if that person is still there. I did notice, though, that WAVY usually had more scores & updates of LU during that time.

A guy who worked for me at my last station is now the Sports Director at one of the stations there in Tidewater, his name is Cory Curtis. He's from Chicago so he doesn;t have any miases one way or the other. If someone were to call him and ask him to drop Liberty in the ticker I am sure he would. But the ruleo f tumb is to focus on local teams first along with the big boys int he state (UVa & VT).

Some people seem impressed with us. Some just seem ignorant of the Lady Flames, which is pretty hard to believe for people who follow a women's basketball program in such close proximity to ours.

i was listening to part of the UVA broadcast online when they played South Dakota State in the bahamas today. Jed Williams along with Anna Prillaman who were broadcasting the game today said "you don't want to ever lose to a team like Liberty" "they are in a small conference" obiously those two have no respect for our team but we shut them up on Monday night.

South Dakota State is a good team. they knocked off USC who was #19 and they beat Middle Tenneesee State at MTSU's place where Maryland barely escaped with a win earlier in the season.

Preseason rankings or rankings before a team has played at least 5 games are all crap. Teams who finished well last year or play in major markets get all the attention.

While Mid Tenn St. did give Maryland a scare in there first game of the year at home, ill reserve my judgement for about another two weeks, as to whether or not they are good. They go on the road to play Georgia & Tenn in the next two weeks. If they can give one of those two schools a game, ill side with you, but if not every dog has his day as they say.

While SD state did beat # 20 USC, that is probably the only ranked school they will play all year and they played them at home. There win @ UVA was impressive, but playing teams like NJ Tech in an home and away isn't going to inspire voters to give them credit or help there RPI since they dont' play in a conference. Of course that will hurt us in the end if UVA doesn't start winning some ball games and continues to lose to teams who may not look that impressive by seasons end.

I still find it hard to believe that the Trogans and the Cavaliers both got slapped around by a Jackrabbit.

Thanks fellas for all of the love, I know Jed Williams very well and learned a ton from him and he respects our team quit a bit... I don't forsee them being able to have the type of season that Debbie had envisoned with them only playing with 10 players.. They are really going to feel the effects of there top 2 players off the bench (They left school, not kicked off the team) come early Feb during ACC play... What Jed was talking about was more in general terms of losing to a school in the Big South...

Funny how we expect love on other boards when everyone on this board routinely disses every other school that they have never heard of or is not in a major conference. No one realizes that some of these men's teams like Miami Ohio, Marist and others that have come into the Vines are really good teams. We expect Liberty to win every game in every sport except for the money games and even a few of them. That is what fans do. We talk about things from a skewed perspective. It is ok, I am fine with it but don't expect other boards to know or respect our school/women's team because to them we are just Liberty. They don't look at the actual roster and coaches and make that assessment. Just like most of the people on this board do when we talk about other teams.
