Big South Announces Women's Basketball Players of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Liberty’s Megan Frazee has been named the Big South Conference Choice Hotels Player of the Week in women’s basketball, while Kyla Jones of Coastal Carolina was tabbed New Balance Freshman of the Week for games played Jan. 22-28, the League announced today.
Frazee, a sophomore from Xenia, Ohio, averaged 17.0 points in two games on the week as her Lady Flames went 2-0 and moved into a tie for the top spot in the Conference standings. In the game against undefeated Radford on Jan. 27, Frazee put in 27 points on 9-of-15 from the floor (60 percent), 2-of-2 from downtown and added seven from the line against the Highlanders. In the paint, she posted seven boards and came up with a career-high five steals in the win over Radford. Against Winthrop on Jan. 22, she notched seven points and five boards in 14 of minutes of play. For the week, she shot 56 percent from the floor and averaged 6.0 rebounds per game to go along with four assists and eight steals.
Jones, a guard from Adamsville, Ala., posted two double-digit scoring efforts to help her Bulldogs to a 2-0 record on the week. She got her week started with 10 points on 4-of-7 from the floor and 2-of 4 at line against Charleston Southern on Jan. 23. She also added five assists, three steals and two rebounds in the win over the Lady Bucs. Against Birmingham-Southern on Jan. 27, she put in 12 points, came up with three boards and handed out four helpers as Asheville downed the Panthers, 72-61.
Also nominated for women’s basketball Player of the Week for Week 11: Alisha Dill (Coastal Carolina), Candyce Sellars (High Point), Kelli Darden (Radford), Stacy Shepard (UNC Asheville) and Ashley Haugtvedt (Winthrop).
