The most successful program on Liberty Mountain deserves its own forum. We give Coach Green and the Lady Flames their props while breaking down their run to the Big Dance once again.

I'm not sure what our best seed ever was but I was a little shocked to see us as a projected 13 seed for the tournament. Of course all of this is pure speculation but maybe it's possible?

If this were to stay true, UNC struggled with Davidson, Duquense, and only scored 49 against NC Central. Not sure how much stock should be put into struggling performances if the team still wins, but that looks much more winable than last years contest against ND.

Duquesne is 19-4 and had a 13 point lead in the second half against NC. Duquesne (RPI 31) beat us (RPI 72) by 17 points. ESPN has them a 9 seed. They're actually really good and play Dayton (20-1) on Mon.

There is a difference between struggling and losing.

Oh, I absolutely agree. I only bring it up because that game looks much more winnable than ND was last year. Have we ever been a 13 seed before?

Yes. And UNC isn't a bad team.

We were a 12 seed in 2005 the year we ended up 25th in the nation (after the 2 wins in the tourney).

Actually we were a 13 that year (we made history with our run to the Sweet 16 as a 13 seed)

Bear in mind that women's seeding below the 11-line has less to do with quality of play as with geographic locality.

I seem to recall one year we were undefeated and drew a 16 spot. I believe there were only 2 undefeated teams in country that year, and they met in first round.

Verses the Lady Vols of Tennessee. I was at the game. Play Basketball

I know that many thought we got shafted… and maybe we did. I think it was good for our program to play the #1 team.

Women's current RPI is 67. Losses to Duquesne (32), Texas A&M (11) and Baylor (1). Should get at least a 13 seed, especially if they run the table in BSC. Losses to NC A&T, HPU an PC really holding us back from getting a 12 for now even though those teams have winning records. I believe we're a better team with Emily Frazier at the point. Her A/TO is really good and she remains calm under pressure. We'll miss her come tourney time.

We weren´t the WORST team in the field that year, so in that sense we did get shafted by having to play number 1, but I think we deserved a 16 seed. Our schedule was terrible. I think the comittee thought a matchup of 2 undefeated teams would bring some extra interest to a first round mismatch, and it did.
