I was there. I was sitting near that end in section 123. I think she grazed her slightly, and the refs had been calling it tight all game...

Good effort by the Flames.

The officiating was awful all night. That **** lady was really bad. Making calls from across the court that was definitely not her call to make. Although the bald guy was the one who called that last one a foul. We saw the replay and the whole crowd obvious disagreed with that call.

I saw the replay a few times. It didn't look like she was touched. If you want to get technical she might have grazed her leg with the hand. A foul not normal called at that point in a game, but ... as any coach will tell you ... you allowed your opponent to be in a position to win the game. The VCU girl had ice in her veins as she knocked down all three free throws. I'd just say it was tough loss to a pretty good team. Got way behind to early and had to claw back into it.

Going with only 7 players is so unlike Cary Green, you have to believe they were the only ones available to play. That's scary. We know Molly and Alex Bream are out with ACLs, Beka is still rehabbing hers from last year and Devon Brown is out with stress reaction and may redshirt. Anyone know the status on Kittery Maine, Brittany Campbell, DeAnna Fuqua or Danika Dale?

COOLHAND - For starters there was a double whistle on the last shot. So 2 out of 3 people with the best position on the court thought there was enough contact to warrant a foul. As for the replay angles they showed on TV you could make the argument either way. BUT I am going to stick with a double whistle at a point in the game where whistles are tough to come by. The bottom line is this: Why did the girl even stick her hand in the cookie jar? If she keeps her hands to herself, the VCU girl throws up a HORRENDOUS shot and then you let the scrum under the basket begin. As for making calls that you think were not hers to make, how sure of that are you? If I am the slot official I have a whole lot of area that I can cover and call. Yes even across the court. Usually, that official has the best view of weakside action. Also, weren't BOTH male officials bald???
In my opinion, the loss can and should be attributed to the new seating arrangements in the Vines Center. I mean why mess with success??????? We won how many Big South titles with our benches where they were? Everyone knows in sports you DON'T MESS WITH SUPERSTITION!!!! Look what has happened to Notre Dame ever since they covered up Touch Down Jesus with the second tier of seats????? Do you need any more proof!!!

Well both were not bald. One had hair gel.

And the lady was making calls for fouls underneath the basket when she was standing at half court. That's clearly out of position. I was at this game and I saw how she consistently made calls form across the court when there was a ref right there next to the action. In fact I remember on play where there was a double whistle and the one ref started to make a travel signal when she ran in a called it a foul. They were just not on the same page all game.

Now I know we can't blame the refs for this loss because we never should have let them go up by so much. But it sucks to lose a game on a bad call at the end with no time for us to do anything with it.

THere is not really a corelation (or spell check!) between position on the court and where your responsibilities as an offficial are. There are several plays where there can be an official right on top of it, but would be unable to see action that is taking place on that play. Rebounding would be one example.
Also, I disagree that there was no foul. Even if you feel the whistle was improper, you still have to ask why the player stuck her hand in there to even give the APPEARANCE of a foul.
Now when it comes to officialls choice of hair care products........there is a lot of gel and hairspray used! :D

I've known, from my early years in Sunday School, to avoid the appearance of evil- and now I know why!
