Hey, it was a decent season - # 4 seed, home game for the BS - win in the BS..
I never thought it would be easy, & it's not.

Congrats to RMK & the guys on a good effort.

Go Flames!

Well it's too bad we're losing Jeremy Anderson this year, since he's a senior according to JE

Man I wanted Liberty to win so I'd get a chance to meet some of the guys from this board. Guess I'll have to wait and hope that we play you on a Saturday next season.

Alex, according to Jerry, 6/9 from the field.

Jerry says RMK is spending time, thanking the fans,
then coming to talk with Jerry.

They seemed to just give out at the end. Missing those free throws hurt momentum-wise.

Looked and sounded like a decent showing from the Lunatics, though.

We could always meet during football seasn when you guys...wait, what..nevermind.

Sorry, I had to console myself with a cliche jab. It made me feel better. Thanks.

All right, I've had my fill of Jerry for tonight.

You could tell Coach McKay really took this one hard. As poorly as we played for most of the second half, this game will still within reach until the final few minutes. I'm trying to let my feelings solidify. I'll post more in a few minutes.

And Horrez, Saturday should be entertaining to watch on the Deuce.

The missed free throws when we were still in the game and had the chances to cut into the lead with the clock stopped really killed us. That and being outrebounded 38-19. :banghead

Welcome grm!
I heard the best parts, went into the church for a wedding rehersal, returned only to catch the last 2 minutes.
We were only down by 2 (42-40) when I had to leave the office...

RMK sounds real positive about what we have coming in next year,
and everybody that I have heard seems very pleased with the progress this year,
so if RMK can do again next year what he did this year, it should all be great.

I feel pretty sure that the athletic administration is pleased as well, so ...

GO FLAMES!

Watched all but the last 2 minutes from the Thomas Road sanctuary. Nice turn out of LU fans there. The ladies' coaches showed up after their practice. I guess if you live by the 3, you also die by the 3. And Kenny George was a monster inside. Still, a decent season overall--and congrats to Coach McKay and the whole team.

Good season.

Some major positives:

Did not have a losing season (finished .500)
Won a Big South tournament game

So I think things are looking up...It also sounds like we have a good recruiting class, so It'll be exciting to see what happens next year. Good job.

I think this is a team that will be fun to watch for years to come. I know it got me interested in college basketball, which my wife NEVER thought would happen.

I hope that I will not get blasted byy the guys here, but I am a bit frustrated with this game. Yes, we did win a game in the BS and 4th seed. Not bad for a first year coach. I don't understand why we aren't more aggressive driving in the lane. We have some great guys with great speed. We really needed to try and do that tonight. Yes, I know that there was a 7-7 guy in the lane, but the only way he was going out was due to fouls. Maybe, I'm an idiot and don't know jack, but from what I have seen, the only way to get to big guys is to go at them. We did good this year, and you may see this as negative, but I think that we had potential to do MUCH better.

You're not going to get blasted. If you look at the game thread you are saying the same things we were.

That said, we didn't play well tonight and that won't get it done on the road in the postseason. But UNCA outplayed us all night and deserved to advance to the finals.

We did lose confidence in the paint and yet we still were in it until the final two minutes. That shows the guts and determination our boys had down there. For that I know I am proud of the way they battled even if they were firing blanks for much of the second half.

We'll start up a season postmortem in a day or so. But i just wanted everyone to get the frustration off their chests in here before we look back at everything that has transpired the past few months in the program.

we made it to the second round for the first time since 2004...that is progress...but it doesn't make this loss any easier...especially since we were so close up until the last few minutes...

The biggest problem...they let Kenny George get into their heads....he is nothing if you make him move and just attack, attack, attack.....maybe easier said then done...

this team, though, has nothing to be ashamed of....this was about what most realistic people thought this season would be like anyways....maybe even a little better...

It does feel better losing in the second round then losing at home in the first round like the last couple of seasons...

George is all they have and it was a very sad last few minutes to watch. when we missed those free throws that pretty much sealed our fate. Asheville IMO is really not that good without Kenny George. The dogs will be bought back down to earth after this season is over.

As painful as this loss is, I am really proud of the boys. They hung in there all game.

The thing that hurts the most is that they were able to inside ALL game but did not finish. Inside of driving to the hoop they kicked back to often.

and KG is one ugly dude... im just sayin.

Clearly Kenny George isn't all we have. Bryan had 19 same as Kenny and one more than McLean. The FT really killed you down the stretch. I was really glad you had fans there. You certainly outnumbered HPU's fans from the first game.

There was never an "offense" chant, quite possibly something else was not enunciated well. The classy fans from UNCA will live on.

Cheers that were turned down by the powers that be(although some fans snuck them in):

"Lobo Reject"
"Homophobic"
"School of Bigots"
"religious zealots"

and one sign that read, "Jerry Falwell was a LUnatic"....although I thought it was kind of a nice shoutout to your student group.

One more time....

enjoy the run while it lasts. its hard to beat a team three times especially when that team is Winthrop.

I thought we had a good strategy with Kenny. Fill the court with shooters and make him gaurd one. We weren't hitting our shots, so it didn't work but it was a good thought. It was basically 4 on 5 on the defense end--we just couldn't stop him at all offensively. If he plays as well against Winthrop, it's going to be a long night for the Eagles.
