A tornado warning and everyone is to remain in the Vines Center. Attendence was at 2K. Listening to the broadcast it seemed like a lot more than that.

Talk about your 180s in just over a week considering the same two teams and the same floor.

Congrats to Coach RMc and the entire team!

Tornado warning is lifted...but still severe T-Storms in the area. It is obviously raining cats and dogs and threes tonight.

Both Smitty and Kyle had career highs. Anthony with 10 boards as well and Ace with lucky 13 in both points and rebounds.

And TeeJay had as many assists as the entire VMI squad.

Congrats guys. Good luck Thursday night. Of course we'd love to host the Big South championship in Rock Hill, so I'll be rooting for you guys (and as you may have noticed, WU doesn't exactly match up well against UNCA, so that's another good reason for me to root against the Dogs). Hopefully WU and LU can get the job done on Thursday and maybe we can have the first ever joint FlameFans/WinthropFans tailgate on SAturday morning (though the 11:30 am tipoff somewhat limits tailgating time). But first things first, both teams need to win Thursday.

Was a great game. Too quiet at parts and as I set here at Campus East dripping wet and waiting for wings, here's what I saw.

+'s
- Great defense, especially in the second half where they clogged the lane and made VMI an jump shooting team
- Hit our shots, obvious but still important
- More agressive in going to the hole. I thought that this was going to be very important to us tonight and down the road in the tournament. Sometimes we fall in love with the 3 a bit too much.
- did not let the press shake them
- Lou Weider, need I say more.

-'s

- Need to convert on more of the turnovers we force. At halftime this was a huge difference
- In the first half, we really did not work the ball around like we can. In their defense, they did a much better job in the 2nd half.
- Need to be willing to drive and shoot instead of drive and kick out. Not all the time, but some of the time.
- Need to keep the intensity ALL 40 minutes.

Anyway, that is my take. And yes, I now have wings.

Attendance had to have been higher than that. At least 1000 more.

Alex headbutted me and punched me in the chest after the win when the players came into the stands with us. (Totally worth it) (He was SO stoked).

I also got pretty much mosh pit body checked by KO and James Spencer. (Totally worth it).

Those players were so happy. It was amazing. On to Asheville, lets shock the Big South.

Chris mentioned in his blog that Dell Curry was supposed to be on hand with both Stephen and Seth. Did any of you guys meet them?

They sat right by where I was standing, didn't get to "meet" them, but did see them.

So awesome. At the end when we all died and got crushed by the players. Definitely worth getting sweat on by Smitty. The girls around me were getting crushed. BEST

I put the Dell on TV does that count as meeting them?
What a performance! That is how you get a team ready for a tourney!!!

I spoke to one of their coach's at the end of the game in the tunnel (that may or may not have played at LU). He said if the team plays like this then there would be nobody that will stop us. He also mentioned how great AS would be in their system and how tough of a player he is.

This is a great day to be a Flame!

I wont talk about KO here...I started a thread in honor of him  8)

HMO, Kyle did just what you "coached" him to do: forget driving to the basket and shoot the three.

THATS WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT!!!!

if you notice his first 21 points were 3's!!!! Dont slash let TJ and BJ do that and kick it out to you!!! It may take him 7 games but he learns!!!!!!!

Super & company, no ugly confrontations with any Keydet fans/alumni tonight???

There were some older VMI fans who walked through our group tonight right before tip off and were very nice and polite on our end. I'm pretty sure both sections were too busy being focused on whats on the court to start anything between us in the stands. it was a good clean fun game all the way around.
