I want to see more Russell. Ill give you his foot work is a little off and his jumper is broke but the man can block some shots. He is big and that is what Liberty needs, some size.

Larsen good point why not just put a big body in there. But I have seen him play many times just not that good he always looks confused.

I never seen a player get worse...until now

And to be perfectly honest, I dont think he cares...you can tell he doesnt have the passion it takes...he's smart, he's using this to get a free education (and by his grades he's making the most of it) he's also a great Christian kid

but he has gotten worse

Jump shot is broke? Are you kidding? He can knock down a baseline shot better than most I have seen. His footwork and game awareness may be off due to a lack of experience but his jump shot is not broke. In fact his footwork is not even that bad. The game awareness factor is the only reason he doesn't play IMO. Statistically he shot 67% from the field last year. Many of those shots were 10-15 foot jump shots. As far as a shot blocker? I don't think he has the timing or jumping ability to block shots consistently either. Sorry to flame your 1st post Larsen but I needed to set that straight. Welcome to the board though man. :D

Russell Monroe in my opinion plays very soft when he is in ball games. I have never seen any emotion out of him on the court in the time that i have seen him play. There was one dunk against ECU at home a couple of years that was so powerful it got the crowd going and LU ended up winning the game and he looked emotionless like that never happened IMO. He does have a sweet baseline jumper just as SCAR said though and for the most part he has a nice shooting touch.

guy, stop with the name calling. If you've seen others do it, it's probably because they're just ribbing someone they know. But if you're not gonna bring anything to the table besides "jerk", you can post somewhere else.

I haven't seent eh guy play much at all, but if his game awareness is as bad as people make it out to be, then he can be a big liability on the court. That will lead to missed defensive assignments, and thus the chance at easy points for the opponent, and can lead to not executing the offense properly, which could cost the flames valuable points. i've seen my fair share of players thrown into games with poor awareness and have seriously hurt their teams because of it.

I will say, I'd like to see the big man get a little bit more time. Or should I say, a little bit OF time. Maybe he doesn't earn it in practice, I don't know. But it just seems like he gets a much quicker hook than anybody else, if he even gets in. His career is pretty much over at this point, but I would have liked to have seen that happen.

How do you know he gets PT if you don't even know where he plays?

Rudy Gay and Mike Miller. Don't laugh, Rudy Gay is a future all-star and is averaging 20 and 6 rebounds and 1.5 steals and is shooting 47% from the field. Mike Miller is a lethal perimeter scorer, averaging 17 points, 6.6 boards, and 3.6 assists while shooting over 50% overall and over 43% from three. They also have two solid rookies in Mike Conley and Juan Carlos Navarro. They got some good pieces for the future, they just need a lot more pieces to compete in the west.
