Not a lot of energy tonight, in the crowd or on the court. High Point really seemed to make a point of doubling the post every time the ball went inside and give up threes. In the first 15 minutes LU was hitting their threes and than got cold and thats when HPU took over the game. LU attempted to double AZ but had trouble thanks to some good ball movement (which we have struggled with all year) and AZ was able to take advantage when he only had 1 guy on him. I don't think tonight was too good of a indication on yall, it just seemed like there was a lack of energy and yall were content to just pass untill you got a open three and shoot, which is good when you are making them but not so much when you are cold.

Good work from the LU fans under the bench they were heard, although our crowd wasn't helping keep them quiet. Thankfully we have cheerleaders or you could have heard a pin drop in there tonight.

Unfortunately, this is more of what we expected from this team at the beginning of the season. I think they have played great thus far and have a great future ahead of them with RMK. This just wasn't our night.

Everyone's going to be pessimistic about this, and I understand, but I'd just like to point out if we can get this turned around and steal a win on Saturday, we set ourselves up for being able to get 2nd or 3rd place. We're only a game out right now. Yes, I know, we're the same away from 5th place, but it just shows that Saturday night will be the turning point of our season as to which way we go.

would that be spin or dribble control?

I agree we did not perform tonight as well as we could. We were giving up "O" rebounds left and right. As for the crowd, there were only 8-9 of the LUnatics present (including myself). We tried to get a few BBP cheers going, but after a couple of them, momentum was not in our favor. Defense cheers worked out well. We also did not sink many 3's as I would like to have seen.

Some good news now, there was one girl on the HPU dance team which I found very pretty; beautiful eyes as well. I think her name was megan. Not sure though.

I agree with saturday as being a "must win" if we are to re-gain momentum going into the 4th quarter of the season. Even if you hate basketball, come and see KG saturday as it will be a sight to remember.

GO FLAMES!!

That would be get the fluff out of here if all youre gonna do is cause trouble

His post was in response to a conversation we had about our current standing. He nor any of us are happy with how we performed tonight. When we shoot under 40%, we cant win a game. Yes its frustrating sometimes, but its Ritchies first year and when 2 people on the team have an on night, we win. Thats how it works with this team. Are we consistent? No. But we are headed in the right direction and people who didnt have the chance to step up are now doing so.

Think about it. You can tell how Ohman will play the rest of the game after 3 minutes. If Ace isnt playing well in the post, we have no reliable post play (Although watching Russ hasnt been terrible). TeeJay needs to get some fouls called when he slashes, and sometimes he has to hit a shot. Smitty can go 5-6 one game and then 1-8 the next. Anderson and BJ are the only almost "consistent" players we have. Anderson will get you 2 3's in a game as long as he takes 4.

With Jon hes the leader of our group, you know the guys who actually show up for a game or two. He along with the rest of us need to make sure we have tough skin because we are going to lose games we should win and we are going to fail more than we want to. Nobody ever said McKay would walk in and take everything, we know its going to be a struggle. So yeah were a game out of 2nd. Yeah were T-4th. If we play like we have the past two games, say hello to 5th. But if we come out and shoot well more times than not we have a good shot at 3rd or 4th.

cmon guys sometime things happen and if SJ can't be there someone has to be the point man and make it just as good. i know SJ is the heart and soul, but it will get better and im sure the players and coaches appreciated you guys being there. with all of that said the roadtrip ended up not being that good. you can never underestimate road games in conference. we will need to play much better saturday to win, but we are headed back home. we only have two more road conference games and i would think we could get a split. let's get the furnace rocking saturday night!

Yes, hopefully the furnace will be rocking the next 2 games, if we win both, we are in the drivers seat for 2nd, if we split we still have a shot at 3rd, if we lose both we will be lucky to get 4th. Make sure you guys get the word out to the students the next 2 days.

Perhaps the most telling stat of this game was that apart from Alex, we made only 2 2-point baskets, and one of them was by Russ in garbage time (Kyle made the other one). It looks like Cruz Daniels has stepped up his game as a shot blocker, but Kenny George he is not. We need to take it to the hole strong and finish more than we do; especially Smitty. He shot the 3 well last night, but if that is all he is going to do we might as well give Jeremy more minutes, because he shoots it more consistently. Antonio was 0-3 from 2 point range.

I am a big advocate of utilizing the 3 point shot in college basketball. The 3-point line is really too close, and IMHO if you recruit the right players, it is just smart/effecient to take shots that are worth 3 points which you can make at a 30-40% rate as opposed to just a few % points higher for shots worth only 2. Even so, you still need to challenge your opponent now and then.

I went to the game and it was the worst I have ever seen LU play.....

we got outplayed the entire game and we could not hold on to the ball, rebound, score, or play defense...

we got spanked

I was wondering how long it would take. Dickens, as badly as you ripped RD and his teams, you are now going to say this is the worst you've seen? I admit I only listened to the game, but that's a bit hard to buy.

We were only outrebounded 32-30. Not good but I can live with it. Alex certainly did his part, pretty much playing AZ to a standoff. Our guards got totally schooled, and I can't think of any reason why. Jefferson and Harris are good players, but we made them look like pros. TeeJay and BJ combined to shoot 1-14 from the floor and 0-2 from the line, with 3 points, 5 assists and 5 turnovers. :vomit

HP shot 52% from the field, which either means they just had a hot night, we played poor defense, or maybe a little of both. Definately not an acceptable number.

You were nowhere to be seen for our 4 game winning streak, and now we lose 2 in a row and you show up. Imagine that.

I'm just wondering why checkmate hasn't showed up as well.

you guys are jerks....I missed the UNC game for this. We played like crap!! I don't blame McKay....I blame the players!!! He cannot go out there and do everything for them. I think we will recover, but what has been LU's problem on the road?? We play terrible!! HP looked much better than they were. Our guys looked like they did not want to even be there.

easy there turbo. you didn't miss any of the UNC game it was blacked out here in the BURG. or at least it was on cable. and as for the team... well we live and die by the three. we don't shoot well we lose. thats just a fact of life. unfortunatly ace has seen very few teams he can play post consistantly this year. we need to get hot come tourney time.

It was on CBS. That's why ESPN blacked it out.

Ok I didnt want to look at the board until today and its late cause I am sick and Im trying to fight it.... I was there and let me point out what I saw.

1. No Matter what anyone says, In the second Half AZ was frustrated, He couldnt get the ball and when it did he couldnt get a shot. I know he scored in the second half but our guys gave him trouble in the second half.

2. SJ couldnt go cause he was sick, but even if he was there we wouldnt have won. When our players and coach quit, there is nothing we can do. I think ritchie just gave up because our players did. We tried to chant and swing the momentum but it just wasnt working. It doesnt make sense when we are getting beat all over the floor. We did a good job of doubling AZ, but could no rotate to the shooters and they made us pay big time.

3. I just have never seen a team that gave up like that.

4. Jeremy, at one point, hit a 3 and came down on the floor for defense and slapped the floor and screamed "Cmon Guys, Lets go!!!" As much of an advocate as I am to being scared of a freshman leading things, I liked it, I was almost like well no one is being a leader so ill do it.

5. I had a cut-out of Lundy's head and some Woman at the scores table took it from me and called security, she was a mean expletive and i hope that a loose ball breaks her nose.

6. If i had to look at the game, the only players that looked like they wanted it were Bannister somewhat and Lasfer, and no thats not a typo, LASFER. He got put in with the bench with about 3 min left when Richie gave up and he wanted to win.

7. the 1-3-1 Trap or whatever it is, Doesnt work and teams gameplan for it, tim for something new.

8. I think with TB hurt that Russ needs to get more min and just give him a shot and getting some boards and just being big, if he cant, then pull him out.

9. TL20 Improved his FG% :D

10. High Point just had a great game, to the High Point fans on the board: Good Win and You guys played amazing and deserved it last night, and once again your fans (except that lady) were nice people and just overall good sportsmanship. Thanks for the hospitality.

11. We arent out yet, but we cant just quit (team or coach) and we just need to win some big games starting with saturday. BRING ON ASHEVILLE!

Happened at Radford as well. Unfortunately everytime he gets pumped we lose

But really it seems we have no one really wanting to step up and take over the team other than him. I could be VERYVERY wrong with that statement, but he seems to actually want to motivate this team. It also helps that for the most part hes consistently getting 6 points off of 3 to 4 shots.

Not easy to win, and never was, but this is no time to panic. Give the guys the chance to show what they can do down the stretch. A couple of big wins changes the picture in a hurry.
