Our next three games are all on the road:
  • @ VMI
    @ Radford
    @ High Point
If we want to get 3rd in the conference standings for the tourney, it is imperative we win at least one of these games. IMO 3rd should be our goal, Asheville and Winthrop are going to be 1-2, if we can get 3rd the first round game will be at home and then we would go to either Asheville or Winthrop (whoever finishes first), but we wouldn't play the 2/7 seed on the road instead it would be a neutral court. This would be huge. Saying, that these next three games are big for this because we are competing with VMI and High Point for 3rd, and most of the top 5 teams will beat Radford both times.

I think 2 of 3 is realistic and very do-able. I think Tee Jay put it good in his post game interview when he talked about the team maintaining the focus during road games.

If you are traveling to these games, please don't put a lot of stock in how little time JE said it would take you to drive there. According to his post game show, he said Lexington was 45 minutes away, High Point was an hour and 15 minutes, and Radford was an hour away.

I don't even think SCAR could drive there that quickly with his ride.
I know I'm an :oldhag , but it takes me over an hour to get to Lexington, 2 plus hours to get to High Point, and an hour and a half to get to Radford.

It takes just over an hour to VMI and around two to get to HPU (just a little over unless there's no traffic).

If we don't have a home game in the tourney, I will be dissapointed, but 3rd puts us in much better shape than 4th.

VMI is just a little under an hour for me.
Radford is just over two.
High Point is just under two.

I think we'll win at VMI and RU, High Point is probably a loss.

I've gotten to VMI in 45 minutes. I've also gotten there in 1:20 due to big rigs on 501 after Big Island. You have to plan for at least 1:15 just to be safe.

High Point is at least 2 hours, if not more. I know I can hit the 421S turnoff in Greensboro in 1:45 most times, but again, traffic.

Radford ... all depends on big rig traffic on 81 around Roanoke. I usually hit it in 2, 2:15.

Looking forward to the rest of the road season. I'll be making every road trip from here on out, including the beach swing, which we haven't done in the past. Easier to cover the whole league schedule when Birmingham-Southern isn't in the picture, for sure.

Lang, it was fun hanging with you this weekend. That women's game was brutal so I am glad I got a chance to keep you company. I'll see you on some of these road games. I am going to VMI and Radford this week for sure. The HPU game is up in the air....I have gotten to VMI from my house in da Burg in 45 min. Jon and TBGBGBGBGBGB can vouch.

Nothing against women's hoops, but I'm glad you were around to alleviate the boredom. When a game is 29-2 10 minutes in ...

By the way, am I the only one that thinks we can pull out all three of these? Sure, we could lose two of three, but I really wouldn't be surprised if we won all three of these games.

High Point will be very difficult to win at there place. We should beat VMI and Radfurd but we have struggled at there places big time in the past. We are difinately have more talent.

i don't know why everyone is so quick to think we will beat VMI. we could easily lose two out of three, though i think ritchie will have the boys ready. i know reggie williams is hurt, but he can still light it up, and we have struggled at cameron hall.

I agree with you, but I also think we can just as easily win all three of these games.

If Williams doesn't play ( and he is questionable i think) we better win this game....if he does play it will be close but i think we still beat VMI.

I think on a limited ankle, RP gets the assignment on Reggie and probably has the upper-hand on the defensive end. RP has really proved to be a shut-down player. AZ may have scored some serious buckets but nobody was shutting him down Sat. night.

If Reggie doesn't play tonight then I would be shocked if we lost. If the scoring machine is on the floor it will be a dandy whoever wins. Based on comments on their board their game atmosphere is up significantly this season.

I think we CAN win all 3, but it's highly unlikely. It's very tough to win on the road in any league. I know we've got a differenct coach now, but there's been years where we've been lucky to get 1, maybe 2 wins on the road. I would be estatic if we get 2 of these 3.

It seems unlikely that Reggie will be at full speed tonight, even if he plays. We should be able to come back from Lexington and Radford with wins. High point will be tough.

To make it from Lynchburg to High Point in less than 2 hours would require a lot of good fortune and/or a good radar detector. It is every bit of 140 miles.

Like I've always said, so hard to win on the road in league play. At least we got one which we desperately needed. Here's to hoping we can steal the one at HPU
