Forgive me if I'm wrong in starting this because its not my board but I felt that this was a worthy topic and the original thread as gone completely astry.

I just got in from the game a little bit ago, stopped by the Sheetz outside of town and they were great. Had no problem serving our bus load of people and were very friendly to all of us.

As for the game, I thought it was a great game. It seemed every time you guys would pull out to 7-8 points we would come right back and tie it only for yall to push the lead right back up and it came down to our knucklehead center dropping what would have been a uncontested dunk to tie the game with 3+ seconds remaining. No one knows if it would have gone into OT or not but I would have liked our chances more if he didn't decide to fumble it Tony Romo style out of bounds. The whole game it didn't seem like AZ or Mclean could have been stopped (and I don't know why yall didn't go to him more we had no awnser). I didn't come in expecting a win, but I was glad we at least made it a competitive game and it should be another one when you come down to the Millis.

Another note, the fans around us were great. We were able to hold conversations with some of the guys and even a few laughs over some of the calls and plays. I've been to all schools now exce[t CSU and VMI in the BS and this was by far my best experience, I don't know if any of the posters here had a chance to meet any of our fans but hopefully you guys could tell tonight that maybe we aren't as bad as the WU faithful would lead you to believe we are.

Had a great time and glad to see everyone seem to make it through healthy on the court and see you guys in a few weeks.

This was a big win for coach McKay. His in game strategy and adjustments were key to the win IMO. In that last possesion He and Bart Lundy were in a chess match showing one defense and deploying another at the right moment. Still Mike Jefferson delivered a dime to Cruz Daniels and he fumbled it out of bounds. That must make those guys feel terrible becuase they were in a position to tie the game. TeeJay was great again tonight. Ace is unguardable one on one in the post. AZ got off but it wasn't because of poor defense. He is that good of a player. A very fun game to call and be at and I am really glad Liberty held home court. I hope the team continues to play well on the road on Monday night. I will be there driving from Richmond after work. Manson needs to ride over with us. Sorry for flipping the script on the LUnatics for pre game meal but I had to take a power nap with the late game so I made plans with GMTM and Tim Houghton at Macado's. I can't wait to see how the game looked on MASN on my DVR when I get home after TRBC this afternoon. I love the atmosphere the LUnatics have helped to create. This team deserves the support and I hope you guys don't let an incident like last night affect your commitment to this team and the university. Chris Amos is a standup guy and I am sorry things happened the way they did last night. You guys need to get together and talk about it though and not slime each other on ff.com. You guys are all friends and are all trying to make things different but be patient. Good things take time to build. Keep on being as positive as you can. I hope to see you guys in Lexington Tomorrow night!

Very enjoyable game on TV. The team shows a calm demeanor even when HP was making runs. Coach McKay seems calm and in control, too...and he may well be rubbing off on the team.

I loved the HP fans, theyre loud and funny

To TTL: "Lose some weight!!!"

I about died

Also Daniels is really bad, maybe like RussMonroe 2.0, I also think someone mentioned KO's inability to make shots on bad days in the other thread. Thats where Anderson is a better player, because hell keep shooting and within 2 or 3 shots we can count that hell make one. If KO isnt on, were gonna see 0-3, 0-5, 1-8 games. TeeJay shot well today in key times too.

As an alum who was not there I say the simple answer is ban RA's from sporting events. We want our fans to be passionate. Passion sometimes leads us to say things that we might later regret but that is being a sports fan. (Yelling, moaning and basically feeling for your team in every way). Give the fan some leeway to be passionate without overthinking or parsing every word. If we tolerate fouls on the basketball court without some RA handing out reprimands we should also tolerate a few "fouls" in the stands for folks clearly trying to support and get involved for the sake of the team. There should be limits but the boundaries should be wider than this.

Sounds like it was a great game and great atmosphere. Glad to hear some of the fire is back in the furnace. Way to go guys!

?????? Ban RA's? It wasnt an RA we had an issue with, and actually an RA was with us in the bottom row. Most of them arent bad

So basically, you want to seperate your Christian life from your everyday life? How much sense does that make? We're all held accountable to our actions. You don't check your moral standards at the door.

I apologize...I am intruding on a conversation about a specific incident without all the facts...which is usually bad. If you reread my post the point I was trying to make is that a sporting event involves actions that are illegal or "fouls". They incur a penalty if whisled and if not they are often called "playing hard" or "playing physical". In all but the worst ones you are given some leeway (ie. five fouls in basketball) to play on with a slight penalty (free throws or the ball out of bounds).
I am arguing that fans should be given a similar leeway to be vocal, passionate, involved. Now all but the very best of us have an ugly side, a sin nature that comes out when we are passionate and not restraining our emotions. I am arguing that we want our fans to be passionate. We want them to be vocal. We want them to be involved and reacting to the plays on the court. This will inevitably lead some to say some things they might not otherwise say. There should be boundaries on fan behavior and at most sporting events around the country there are. I am just saying that if we want a passionate involved fan base we may want to allow some leeway for some folks ugly side to come out from time to time in the heat of the moment. We are not condoning this behavior as right (although I would not classify it as "immoral" either TD) we are just allowing a little grace.
At LU we all learn how to shine up the outside to look the part, at sporting events what is inside that isn't totally polished sometimes pops up in the heat of the moment. These are honest emotional moments where our guard is let down. We want that at games. That is what makes a sporting environment special. That raw-ness of emotion and passion you can share with other fans.

This may not apply to whatever specific incident happened last night but I am just saying that at a basketball game we don't want our fans to be looking over their shoulder every time their passion causes them to utter something that someone, somewhere might conceivably be offended by. Most americans are not offended by the work "suck" uttered at a sporting event and in most instances that I have heard it used at a game it has been to express a fan's feeling about a player's play or ref's call in the heat of the moment. In short it is that fan's honest emotion and opinion about the specific event and I don't see it as a moral issue. There are many instances in the Bible where godly folks express their displeasure with a call someone has made. (see Paul's chastisement of Peter as an example) "I opposed him to his face" . I bet that wasn't pretty :-)

Not wanting to get in a huge argument here so this will be my last post on this topic. I am just saying there should be some lattitude given for folks to be their honest selves at a ball game. They can go back to polishing the exterior image after the game.

This game was a tight game, my heart was pounding even after I got home. I enjoyed the HPU fans tonight, they're a great bunch and much better than my first encounters with them 5 years ago when I was a frosh at LU. Anyway, I hope we can continue to defend our home court and get some much needed in-conference road wins this season.

Yes. Really. We handled it last night. It was taken care of. Once the argument stopped, it was over. There's no use dragging things on over and over. It happened. A lot of us were very mad about it. However, we said what needed to be said to each other, and we're over it. We're a group of guys that are really good friends. We were completely divided over an issue but that's not going to change the fact that we're a strong group of friends. An argument takes place, things get said that each person feels they need to say, and it's over. That's how we take care of things. There's absolutely no reason to keep going on and on about it. As far as I'm concerned it's over. We have a game in 28 hours at VMI. That's where our attention is focused now.

Looked great on TV

Sounded great on TV

SCAR and Ray did a fantastic job- I've been catching a lot of regional sports action lately and they are every bit as smooth as the guys on the Big 10 network, & the guys calling CAA or PAC 10 or whatever league games.

LUnatics looked and sounded great- keep it up.

HPUs guys/girls looked great- kudos for making the trek up, and looked like they had a good time.

Nearly threw up at least a dozen times as we just could not salt that one away- years ago that may well have ended up a "L"-
props to Coach McKay for his adjustments. A bit concerned about our inside presence (or lack of it)- other than Ace and the occasional drive by TJ we just are not good in there. Good "D" by a solid HPU team, though.

As far as FGs- :x Man did we go cold. I about lost it when KO squared up, uncontested, and tossed up 3 bricks in a row. I have to agree w/ whoever posted that if the kid isn't hitting, he oughta be sitting. At least Rell can man up on D.

All in all, a great conf win and I expect a tight game at their place as well.

GO FLAMES!

My hubby and I got to go. It was fun, we enjoyed our night out and we also enjoyed the competiveness of the game. We always know it's a good tight game is when my stomach is in knots. Good crowd too. I would have guessed more than 4600 or whatever # they said.
