I was wondering who everyone thinks should win the hustle award if we had one. This can be a current or former flame.
My vote goes for Glyn Turner. Whenever he was on the court, he was all over the place: diving for loose balls, sliding all over the floor, diving in the stands or bench. Everywhere!

it's gotta go to Rell Porter. hands down. he does everything you just said, and sets picks for LB all day. he body is sour after all the games. Rell calls himself "the hustler" when we play around. (hip hop song, Cassidy)

I don't know if I'd call what Turner did hustle - he was just violent! haha, I'm reminded of a game against UNC-A where Glyn chose to stop and tie his shoe in the middle of a UNC-A fast break - one of the funnier things i've seen on a basketball court.
I'm giving it to Mantlo - he was tough, and played hard...

Mantlo lost a good portion of one of his teeth in the Great Alaskan Shootout battling in the game. I'll give it to him. Although Rell does work awfully hard, but I would think his body was salty after games what with the sweat and all.

Remember Torin Beeler. That kid played hard. But I agree, at least from the years I've watched that it could be Mantlo.

Torin Beeler. he had a 48" vert, or so they said.

Like I said in the other thread a few days ago, nobody gave up their body more than Ryan Mantlo.....that dude was a mop and there wasnt a loose ball that he didnt think he could get

HMO -- i can't believe you don't remember Eric Sorenson. He would come out of a game looking like he just got thru with World War III ... take charges, set picks, dive on the floor, he definitely gave up his body every game.

Sorensen. Short on talent, long on heart. He was such a pest that he was usually good for at least one T a night from someone on the other team taking a shot at him.

Ryan Mantlo without a doubt. Dickie V said Mantlo was on his All-hustle team during the Duke game.....
I know, it's just Dickie V

I was a little young for him although I do have some memories, but it's hard for me to recall games at that age.....but from what I hear you all are right
Mantlo

I gotta go with Mantlo too, i can't give anyone from the Hankinson era credit for hustling, yikes.

anyone that has seen Sorensen would probably give it to him but I like Mantlo's hustle too. Also from back in the day Steve Farquhar would dive into press row, the crowd or even the locker room to get a loose ball. Sorensen wins for me because he started on arguably the best teams in LU history in terms of talent and wins and he was an undersized power forward. He was only 6-6 at the most and back then the Big South power forwards were 6-8 to 6-9 most nights and very athletic. He just played harder most of the time.

1. eric sorenson (his hustle outshined his talent/dropped 20 on uncg one night when none of the big three could get going)
2. nathan day (i loved that guy. if it wasn't for him the hankinson years could have been a whole lot worse.)
Nathan Day

I believe he is also the guy that broke my heart after missing the last second layup in roanoke ( first round of Big South) as time expired!
