There's been a ton of work behind the scenes over the last month to two months that is about to come to a head this weekend and the beginning of next week. For the first time in Liberty's history, there will be a true student-led organization for athletic events. This is something I have been very passionate about and it is finally happening this semester. We are not an "official" club in terms of through the athletic department. We are, however, applying for official club status through Liberty's Student Government Association. We have the support of the athletic department and they want us to be successful, but they are letting us run this on our own.

Weather permitting, we will have shirts available to buy on Saturday. Coach McKay got us some very nice Nike t-shirts that we are embroidering a logo onto. The shirts will be $15. By buying a shirt, you will also be joining the club. The only club dues cover the cost of the shirt. We are starting with only 50 shirts, but can easily have more made if we run out. The logo that you see above is what will be embroidered onto this shirt.

We are taking student involvement into our hands. Our goal is to turn the Vines into the Furnace and make it the hardest place to play in the Big South.

Tomorrow there will be something posted on the Liberty splash page about an informational meeting on Tuesday, January 22 at 6pm in DeMoss 1101. This will be to let everyone know what's going on and what we're wanting to do. We're also hoping for someone else to come speak, but we're still working on that.

This club will be what students make it. If they want to just show up at games and get involved, that's fine. However, if they want to help on the marketing and promoting side of it as well that'll be just as good. There are no requirements of this club except that you come to the games and support the team. We're going to have a lot of fun with this. If it's not fun, it's not worth it, and honestly, there's not many things more fun than being in the middle of a packed out student section.

Just so I don't get all of the credit, I've had a ton of help on this. TBGBG, TTL, Schfourteenteen, FlamesFilmGuy, and some other have been working just as hard to get it done.

Can't wait for this to get going in full-force. A big student section would be GREAT for a BS title run.

I'm proud of you, Jon. Keep up the good work.

Is anyone pushing the face painting, like you all did in football?

I don't paint for basketball. If people want to, they're more than welcome. I'm normally coming from work or my internship for games, and we go out afterwards, so I don't paint. Other kids who aren't doing either one of them can paint and I'd even help em.

I meant to go back and edit the post and thank you as well, but you deserve a full post. Thanks for all that you've done to help us out. Thanks to Fumble as well.

I'm just yanking your chain. No big deal, at all. I'm just glad to be part of something like this. I hope it does very well. As always, let me know if you need anything else.
