Does anybody think our team sounds like a poor man's St. Joe's of '03-'04. (The very same team we played in a tournament). If Brew pans out a PG he'd be our Nelson and Blair would be our Delonte West 2 guard, only shorter. Throw in some other pretty good role players and you've got yourself a winning combination. I'm not saying we'll be nearly as good as they were (i.e. #1 in the country, Nelson was NPOY, and he and West are doing exceptionally well in the NBA) but it looks like we could be using the same formula to possibly take the Big South.

Being a Philadelphian and being close to the St. Joes program (Monte Ross is an assistant coach that I played summer league with and went to school with and I know coach Martelli pretty well), I would say that those guys were special. The 2 of them made an average team extraordinary and Brew and LB could do that too. However St. Joes also had Matt (or Pat) Carroll. I always forget which one went to Notre Dame and which went to St. Joes. Plus they had big men that did a whole lot of dirty work like rebounding, post D and blocked shots. You still need those things to take place for a team to be successful. Even the Bulls had decent post play and rebounding though they were dominated by Scotty and Mike. The season is a long way from now and a lot can happen but I am anxiously awaiting that guard combo. Could end up being one of the best ever!

Dont forget that the St. Joe's team also had a heck of supporting cast including Chet Stachitis who is a senior this year and who had a terrific career there at St. Joes.
