I hear Coach McKay and Co. signed 6 guys. No idea when it will be announced. And yes, I know the math doesn't add up for schollies.

"In his first recruiting class at Liberty, head men’s basketball coach Ritchie McKay and staff have signed Seth Curry, Brolin Floyd, Sammy Jackson, Mike Lewis, Carter McMasters and Austin Smith to national letters of intent for the 2008-09 academic year."

http://www.libertyflames.com/index.cfm? ... 66&TeamID=

"Floyd, a McDonald’s All-America nominee" recruited by three ACC schools, this dude must be a heck of a player...

"McMasters picked Liberty over Auburn, Chattanooga, Clemson, Kentucky, Michigan, Purdue, Virginia and Virginia Tech, among other programs." aside from chattanooga, that looks like the list of a 4-star kid...

Sounds like he brought in a minimum of three players who should give good contributions as freshmen, if not more than three. Is it safe to get really excited about NEXT season now? :D

Wow. If all these kids actually show up on campus in the fall the future of LU basketball looks very bright!

I interpreted that as "durn, this could be a special class"

6'0" G
6'5" G
6'5" F
5'7" G
6"11" F/C
6'9" F

Only 1 JC player, and many, if not MOST of the rest chose us over SEC and ACC schools. I'm nearly tempted to make Kool-Aid a part of my daily diet.

I only break out "durn" on special occasions. It represents the height of being impressed for me as a Southerner.

That 5'7" dude is going to look like a boy among men (a la Tyrone "Mugsy" Bogues .) But if he can ball, then he's A-OK in my book.

Some very good quotes in the article from McKay. He seems very high on the 5'7" kid. Said he would become a crowd favorite. With Curry and MCMasters, we overlooked Floyd. Guy can ball.

I was really hoping Smith from Texas would sign, he seemed to be real good. We may still be able to get him if football falls through for him.

In the local fishwrap, the basketball headline was about some former LCA kid who signed with Florida State, rather than our big-6 recruiting class who chose LU over ACC and SEC schools. In fact, our 6 letters didn't even make the e-version of the newspaper. The News & Advance disappoints again.

I don't think our coaches had any expectation that Smith would sign this fall. He'll weigh his options, and most likely will play WR in the Big 12, but we are still a possibility. We already have 2 tall Freshmen receivers, but if he is interested in playing both sports, something tells me Rocco might find a spot for him; maybe even a FB schollie, which would make him a "freebe" for BB.

Deividas Dulkys (6'4" & 180) now at Findlay Prep in Las Vegas. Anybody ever heard of him?

David came to America through Brian Woodson. He is a really, really good player. I thought Steve Fisher was going to get him out in San Diego St. David had a very good summer out in Vegas in the AAU circuit. Billy Donovan was recruiting him at Florida and a lot of the big boys.

Scar, the paper says he chose the 'Noles over Oregon, Miami, & San Deigo State.

In your profesional opinon, is a better guard than Curry who LU just signed?

Lets put it this way Cider, Liberty would not have turned him down if he wanted to play here. They saw him in the summer too when he was going off every night. I hope he does well. I am surprised San Diego St didn't get him though because Juwan Howard and Steve Fisher were putting on the pressure since the beginning of the summer. I have not seen Seth play so I can't compare him to David. I saw David play 2 seasons ago when he was at LCA and he was really good then. From what I understand he has gotten exponentially better.
