alright so it looks like this thing is offical now. Any word on where it came from? I think it's sorta messing with our whole "branding" thing we're trying to establish.

Reading through some of the players bios and ran across this;

Anthony Smith's biggest athletic thrill: First dunk and GETTING A NEW COACH!!! :shock:

I think the media guide is great except for two things...the way TJ is cropped into the picture of him "playing for LU" in his player profile and the fact that on Justin Holland's Q&A thing it says that Dwight Howard plays for the Mavericks and not the Magic.

it is right nice, i did notice that i just skip over the vast majority of the pages. D1 guides always have too much filler for me. as far as usefulness goes, i'd have to say the Liberty one is a heck of a lot more useful than the Kentucky media guide. I quit with that thing after 50 pages, i got tired of skipping over the crap. at least Liberty has content on mostly all their pages, Kentucky's just seemed like a gigantic picture book...

Media guides have turned into a large recruiting tool.

yes, i know, i've written them before at a D2 school. i dont even know why they are called media guides anymore. they are so large on the D1 scale that are practically useless for media. they should jsut be called recruiting guides because these days they are designed to help the recruiting process, not to assist the media, if they were to be useful for the media they would be a heck of a lot smaller.

You should definitely stick with DII and DIII schools, then. DI athletics are just too complicated.

I have a Kentucky Media guide from their championship year the Tubby mailed me before the season. I also have one from Duke a couple of seasons later and UConn after both of them won national championships. Not saying I'm a good luck charm but it is cool to have those books. I can't call them media guides because they are 5 times as big as the media guides I am used to...I did notice the Liberty hoops logo is on every page and there is no sign of the flaming eagle anywhere. Our alumni shirts had it too.

Is that really in there? And does it really mean what it seems to mean?

It was done specifically for men's basketball only. It was created by the same company that updated the look of the basketball offices. It doesn't affect our university's branding at all.

Thank you. I have it now, and he evidently was indicating that he didn't respect/appreciate the former coach.
At least he leaves no doubt where he stands.

is it supposed to look hand-drawn, or something? :? I actually kinda like it- but it looks like a mockup sketch or something... the lines look hand-drawn. Maybe its just me- I AM an arteeeeest , ya know.

Without having a hard copy....I think it looks this way because it is a lo-res pdf.

When I did the men's tickets for this year, I used that symbol to highlight the game number. The symbol I have seems to be sharper. Again, I think that is due to the lo-res of the pdf.
