Somehow this one had slipped between the cracks for me ...

... we are making numerous changes to the Vines Center. We have added a second stats board to the scoreboard closest to the main entrance. We are also adding triangular shot clocks over the backboards and we have replaced the buzzer with a horn system, creating a much more professional sound. Also, we are putting message boards on both scoreboards. The ones that are there now have not worked for years, but that is being corrected.

In addition, we are building new trophy cases for the concourse area to give us a nicer presentation of our trophies. Also, we are giving a makeover to the All-American wall, which I believe will turn out to be extremely nice. Currently, we are investigating the best way to hang our retired jerseys.

Outside the Vines Center, we have tripled the number of ticket windows in order to make the lines much shorter for those purchasing tickets. The Vines Center has also been painted outside to match other athletics buildings.

What a peice of crap that thing was. It would always get stuck buzzing and they would just have to keep pressing the button until it would finally turn off. I was sure one day it was gonna still be on when they inbounded the ball. I guess it'll never come to that. Why replace the current shot clocks with "triangular" ones. I don't see the benefit over square ones.

I think the mean the ones like you see at NBA arenas...where each shot clock faces three different directions so the crowd to the side of the basket can see it.

If anything, just seeing our AD and company being proactive in cleaning up the Vines Center's atmosphere... if we could only get the student body out to support the team, it's one of the best places to watch a basketball game.

Scar I think you'll agree with me. After reading that blog from Mr. Barber, LU has a Athletic Director that really 'gets it'. He understands what it takes to be big time successful in athletics.

All good improvements, but I hope Mr. Barber & company will repair ALL the broken blue seats in the Vines Center. I sat down in one of those bad seats in convo a few weeks ago and almost broke a hip!

have I ever told you about my exterior renovations to the vines? I've always wanted to photoshop it to see how it would look but I'd need a decent picture of the place and plus it'd take me a long time. But they're good ideas.

It may seem insignificant to some, but I hope there are plans in the works to upgrade restrooms as well. Better ventilation, something other than bare concrete on the floors and a bit of color/decor would make halftime "breaks" less depressing.

If I had my way- all exterior exit doors would be painted flourescant orange or yellow and marked with strobe lights just above floor level so you can find them when crawling under the smoke. And they'd have AED's hanging next to them.

could they do something like they do in larger venues that don't fill up often and cover entire sections up with what looks to be a large tarp type cover with an ad on top of it...i saw it on mnf when it was in jacksonville and it would provide another sponsorship opportunity and prevent fans from sitting all spread out away from the action

Last home game i was taking a pee when the door swung open, i then realized that anyone that was outside and wanted to get a glimpse would have an easy visual........................
