I'm sure he could get a scholly at the D2 level so that would essentially be asking him to leave. But we may have to next year if everybody who verballed, signs their LOI.

I'm all for giving people time who want to help themselves...heck last year Kyle wasnt that great but he worked so freaking hard. Now look at him, he'll see a LOT more PT. Armon just doesnt want to help himself. Sit in a practice you'll hear his name called more than any and thats with 2 different coach's yet same story

That's what I thought...and that's what I'm talking about...someone who works hard and has raw talent (which Armon does have some of) but Kyle works so hard that he makes every break he gets
I'd see Kyle EVERY time I'd go to church EVERY time I'd go to an open gym, he talks with the coach's all he can just trying to gain as much knowledge as possible (he did that with coach D...I'm not sure he's doing that with RM although I'm sure he is)

A better question might be "should we offer a scholarship to Kyle Ohman?" As far as I know, he is still a walk-on.
FF users are better informed than the general public about such things, but it is the "dirty little secret" of collegiate sports that NCAA athletic scholarships are a year-to-year committment, not a 4 year "free ride". Armon Jones is a good example of a player who (unless he shows dramatic progress this year) would be better off at a D2 school, where he will get a chance to play, and his LU scholly could be freed up for a player who can be more productive in our program. Some may say this is being "disloyal" to a player you recruited, but IMHO that is a 2 way street. In accepting a D1 scholarship, a player is also making a comittment to play D1 caliber ball. Recruiting is an inexact science at best, and I have no problem with a coach acknowledging a mistake and making a change, as long as they are open and honest with the player and make an effort to help them find another school where they can play. Meyer had several players over the years who didn't fit into future plans as superior talent was recruited. He contacted coaches he knew at the D2 or NAIA level and got scholarships for them.
