I recently purchased the Lindy's magazine, and LU was misrepresented......
No mention of the amzing skills of Armon Jones (okay, kidding that time)
No mention of TeeJay Bannister (not kidding)
Also, HPU picked 1st
Smith, and McClean on all conference teams

Are you serious? No mention of Bannister?

Lindy's has always been a joke--I generally like to stick to Athlon but even Athlon has been pretty pathetic in it's College Basketball previews.

Athlon's is out too....I haven't seen it personally but I know they have the rankings and all conference like this:
1. Winthrop
2. High Point
3. Liberty
4. VMI
5. UNC Asheville
6. Charleston Southern
7. Coastal Carolina
8. Radford
All-conference team:
AZ Reid - Player of the Year
Chris Gaynor
Michael Jenkins
Alex McLean
Reggie Williams

Realist, so LU's Smith doesn't even make the all conference team?

What I put in the post is all that I know. Not sure if they did a second team or not, or if he would be on it. My guess is that he's not going to be on many, if any, he hasn't really put up numbers compared to the guys that are making it on those teams. He'll have more opportunity to get those numbers this year with Blair gone though.

That would be AZ Reid's spot. He's legitimate player of the year material.

Athlon says that LU has enough talent to win the conference title this year.
Is it true?

I usually look at the magazines in the stores, but rarely buy them anymore...especially Lindy's...that magazine is garbage. The Sporting News one is usually ok, but none of them matchup with Blue Ribbon. You may agree or disagree with their predictions, but nobody is even close to as thorough (especially with the non-BCS conferences) at covering everyone as Blue Ribbon is. It is well worth the $20-something dollars that they charge for it (and it is usually the last one to come out, so it is the most timely).

I've been a reader of Street & Smiths for many years. Is that a reputable publication or not for college basketball?

You can have more than one guy from the same position on all conference basketball teams. There's been times, when teams are composed of all guards. Not usual, but it does happen.

It seems to me that the ADs and sports writers that cover the BS conference are the people who can best predict the conference outcome. I'm not sure when the pre season picks will come out but they would be the best.

Not the AD's but the SID's.

One thing I noticed about Lindy's Big South report that I noticed was no Reggie Williams at VMI.
I agree about Blue Ribbon. More expensive, but well worth it. The detail on the non-BCS conferences is great. You may not agree with the predictions as was said earlier, but after reading about each team, you have an good understanding why they picked them as they did.
I have a hard time trusting these publications that are put out at the same time that college football starts.

They do come out a little early--but we're about a month away until Liberty kicks off the season against San Diego St.
