Tate, a 6-foot-6 wing from Hobbs (N.M.) High School went out with a bang on Saturday, scoring 34 points against the Wisconsin Playground Warriors. He's a versatile wing that handles the ball well and passes better than most at his position.

We've had varsity athletes in our Honors Program before--including Sam Gado (football) & Rob Attaway (basketball).

I saw the realty connection when I Googled the guy. It didn't create much of a belly laugh for me. But to each his own.

Scout just put up a
very nice story on Allen that you can access during this free trial time around Independence Day. Here a couple of nuggets:
As far as school recruiting this young man from Hobbs “At this point Allen has 9 schools showing a lot of interest in him at this point ranging from Arizona St., Pepperdine, all the way to Montana St,” says his AAU coach Ross Romero. “I look for that list to grow as he continues to get more experience and his confidence grows. Allen is starting to realize how talented he is as he works on getting stronger, being more aggressive, and taking it to the hole, more schools are going to take notice, as I believe that Allen Tate is one of the best players in the state.
“I have a strong outside shot and can penetrate to the lane,” said Tate. When asked what position(s) he felt were to his liking Tate didn’t hesitate to answer, “I prefer to play the guard positions. It allows me the ability to penetrate and either take it all the way for a dunk or pull up and hit the short J,” replied Tate.

Red-shirt him and put him in a conditioning program. He seems like he has real potential. Maybe we'll land him.

Have him spend a semester or 2 with Coach Bill Gilespie and he will be a beast in no time (I haven't used Beast in a while since Manger doesn't post as often during the summer

)
