I'm not sure what we are eating, but the Big 3 are all speaking today--Barber, Rocco, & McKay.

I'm there....Coach Meyer is coming into town today for Lauren McCauley's wedding. Should I invite him? 8) Bailey Alston and Eric Cunningham should be here today as well. Old school Liberty hoops in da house!

All we need now is Knuckle, Sorensen and the chick from the women's team that kept blowing out her knees (Angela something). Early '90's LU basketball -- it's nearly fantastic! :D

Not too much breaking news, other than:

1. Scar & Mrs. Scar were there (didn't see any cookies, though); no sign of JM
2. We signed a top 30 recruit in tennis
3. We are getting bids on new stadiums for both baseball & softball (but no money to pay for them yet)
4. McKay joked about wanting to get Redd from the football team
5. McKay praised Bannister, Smitty, Ace, and the Stephene recruit who is from the "sticks of Georgia"; said Bannister will be the best PG in the conference next year; predicted that Monroe will be our most improved player next year; we have an away men's game scheduled next year at Rupp arena at UK.
6. JB is looking into TV packages with either Comcast or MASN for our games.
7. BBQ chicken for lunch but no corn bread

SCAR will still be on FTN for sure with Every Men's game next season. I actually sat with our TV executives, Bruce Carey and Joe Barry. They have run Falwell Minstries TV for 80 years or so :P

Good to see Cider in da house. Coach didn't come to Flames Club but he did get the tour of the land from Jeff Barber himself. I was in the coaches office with Barber, McKay, Soucie, Layer, Meyer and my old teammate Eric Cunningham...Barber was talking about Football when he mentioned TV and he said that those outlets need to start taking Liberty and the big south more seriously when considering showing games. He said that He and some other AD's and KK went up to DC to talk with those entities and they were receptive.

Also, no MRS SCAR's cookies but she got requests from our TV crew guys Bruce and Joe, so maybe by next winter a new batch will be made. Sorry Jim  ....Jeff Barber believes Liberty should win the Sasser Cup every year and he is disappointed that we are in 3rd place for the award for this season. His vision is for us to compete and win championships in all the major and minor sports on a regular basis and he plans on that happening at a pretty regular basis....Rocco had me ready to play once again. Ritchie is engaging and very likable and humble. The place soaked up all 3 guys. Today was a great Flames Club with the big 3 speaking. MRS SCAR's 1st ever luncheon was a success.

Scar, good to hear that JM came up on campus today. Did he know Coach McKay or Jeff Barber before this visit?

Coach Meyer knows virtually every coach in America and most of them can't say enough good things about him. Well respected. Dale and Ritchie know Jeff very well. Jeff Barber just met coach today but Barber certainly knows who coach is.

Sounds like a good time. I definitely like the way Barber tries to get the most out of all of our sports, and pushes them to succeed. He definitely is trying to get us to the level where we can make the jump to 1-A.

(Go ahead and correct me Medic.)

I think both Barber & Rocco still use the terms "1-A & 1-AA"--and that's one of the reasons I like them. :)

I cringe because of the '1' instead of the 'I'. I'm not an FCS Nazi.

Sorry, Sly. When Barber & Rocco were talking yesterday, I was sitting off to the side, so couldn't tell if they were speaking in Roman numerals or regular Arabic numbers. :P

Perhaps they need to fly in a guy from a football hotbed like say Texas to do the play-by-play on any football games. Just a suggestion.

Wouldn't that be great to do Sly? I would like to get in on that football work myself. Ray Jones is a great football guy. He coaches at LCA with Frank Rocco as many on here know. I would think Dennis and Ray would have that gig if they got a football package. I cut my teeth in the business calling high school football games in the Northern Region. Eddie Royal and Mike "Tackle me" Ihmo from VA Tech were 2 of the players I saw play in HS. Sly if you come for a hoops game I will get you in to see Bruce Carey. He and Joe Barry are the guys you need to know as far as TV is concerned. I would love to do some sideline stuff for football. I did that for Georgetown when they re-enstated their program in the early part of the decade.

Ray would be OK, but keep Dennis Carter away from the booth. Please.

Yeah I haven't done football in a number of years but I'd love it even more if I were calling the Flames. I met Carey a few times many years ago. I don't believe I've ever met Barry.

Meanwhile back on topic, limonada is my beverage of choice for Cinco de Mayo. Although I am always down with licquados whenever they are available.

I'll take Carter any day of the week. I can get very defensive about this.
