The Week After (Coach McKay's hiring): any players leaving?

Exactly one week has passed since the McKay press conference, 2 assistant coaches have been hired, and the lovefest for Coach McKay has begun. My question is--Is anyone not getting enough lovin'? (translation: are we losing any current players?) And is our 7 footer "with us or against us"?

I would imagine if any defections happened, it would be during the summer after practices really get underway..

yeah...I'm sure we'll lose a few...look for it to take place in the summer
and my response to that....GOOOD get them out of here, if they cant take someone like RM then they are in for a real wake up call in the real world when their boss no longer lets them come to work 20 minutes late or start practice whenever they want

Who would be in a position to leave? It would have to be one of our younger guys, and would any of them be a big loss. You know Baker is staying. I'd hate to lose Holland, but if he isn't comfortable with this staff, it wouldnt be hard for him to leave. Then obviously the only other candidates would be Jones and Winters becasue they're freshman. Neither of whom got much PT, so unless they show drastic improvement, that's not a real big loss.

BJ is only a rising Soph as well. I hope he stays though. I hope they all stay. Coach McKay seems like a good guy from my brief interaction. Looking forward to getting to know him better.

You know, I knew BJ was but as I was scanning my roster card, it said he was a Jr. I thought maybe he was a JC and I nver knew it. Stupid inaccurate SIDs.

PRICELESS!!!!
Anyway, Ive talked to pretty much all of the players, and all of those that are in a situation to leave... I STRONGLY DOUBT BJ will leave, the way he talks he is excited and Liberty is where he is staying, but there is always that chance something could change so I am 99% sure he is staying only because i never say never. McLean Is staying. The only person in the situation to leave that I think might would be Winters. I cant see him leaving and I doubt he will, but he is the only one that I can see that would have the opportunity.
The Rumors had been going around about BJ but I talked to him and he said "Why Is everyone Asking me that? Im staying, Dont worry" and I trust him so unless something serious changes I doubt anyone is leaving.
Lastly, Dont look for the 7 footer to come. He was RD's and DO's boy, and he had too many offers from other places to still come to LU. I Wish he would and if we still land him thats huge, but I doubt it, Sorry "flamefriends"....

Nathan Campbell is coming though I think. I talked with his coach Kevin Keatts down at the final 4 and he was telling me and Jeff Barber (yes THE Jeff Barber

) that Nathan is excited to come. I know for a fact though that Winthrop was recruiting the 7 footer and if he gets his release don't be surprised to see the big fella walk into the Vines Center with Winthrop written on his chest. Of course they can't even communicate with him until he gets a release from Liberty from what I understand.

Also if Winters leaves he will lose a year of eligibility if he wants to play division 1. He has already used his redshirt year.

What if we don't release him?

There are things known as conditional releases (anybody remember the Rashad scenario?). I would suspect that might come into play in regard to our Nigerian friend. I sincerely doubt we'd give him a release to go to WU in our own league. Anywhere outside of the Big South would be a different story.

While I'd hope we wouldn't release him to go to Winthrop, I wouldn't be totally shocked if it did happen...its happened in other programs already.

I would be shocked if we were dumb enough to release him to WU.

Has RM set a meeting up with him and met him face to face. Might be a good idea to re-recruit him so we can avoid that senerio.
I'm hoping that we lose a few of the bench players, so RM would be able to bring in either some of his previous recruits or some new faces.

I think it's safe to say that Dominque Jones is gone.

All I know is I have class with 4-5 players and since McKay's been hired, they haven't missed a single one.

About releasing the 7' from his scholie, if he wanted a release, he is going to get one. This staff is going to do everything the "right" way. I hope he comes, but I know the odds are slim. Once again, if he wants to be released, RM WILL release him from his scholarship.

That must be RD's 2 biggest bargaining chips: a D1 PG son and a 7' Nigerian, both in his back pocket for any team that wants to hire him (picture the AD's lining up in

formation).

Or, how many classes were missed during RD's watch?

Didn't notice it as much but they would come late or not come at all. I first noticed everything when Brew walked in twelve minutes early, then I watched as the rest came in. Then I started talking to another guy in the class and he said they were all there last week. It's a good sign.

Conditional though. If he says there's 100% chance he's going to go to WU, I doubt they would release him. It wouldn't make sense to.

TD, I don't know for sure if Dominique is leaving. If he likes it enough at Liberty he could stay. he only has 2 years left anyway. Unless Zach gets a job where Dominique thinks he would come in and play a lot or something but who knows. I am just saying that he might stay.
