The two names we have heard mentioned recently in print are:
Brad Soucie
Dale Layer
Would someone like to research these 2 gentlemen and tell us about their education, coaching backgrounds, and/or faith backgrounds? Just remember to "give credit where credit is due" and provide a URL. Thanks in advance.

Layer replaced McKay at Colorado St. in 2000 and had been there ever since. Prior to that, he was an assistant at Colo. St. under McKay for two years after being the head coach at Queens College for 10 years.
Soucie has been McKay's recruiting coordinator ever since McKay's first head gig at Portland St.

LAS VEGAS, Nev. — Howard Johnson didn't care about being diplomatic.
The father of University of New Mexico forward Aaron Johnson entered the team's locker room after Tuesday night's 62-54 loss to TCU and raised his voice at assistant coach Brad Soucie, who called for Mountain West Conference security to remove him from the room.
When Soucie walked toward the Thomas & Mack Center court, Howard yelled "good riddance." Some in the locker room say Johnson called Soucie an "S.O.B." but Howard said that wasn't true.
First article that came up for me. Would have loved to know what happened to cause a parent to enter the locker room headhunting at Soucie.

I would also imagine he wasn't too happy about being named after a chain of hotels.

No, you got it all wrong. He was named after the old Mets 3rd baseman. Get your facts straight, LUconn.

RMK's relationship w/Layer actually goes back further than Colorado State. Ritchie was an assistant under Layer for a year at Queens.

I figured he was upset about being named after the inn-keeper from BLAZING SADDLES...

The players dad in question was the ultimate little league parent that was crying all year long because his son didn't get the playing time the father felt he deserved. The young man had some legal problems the summer before and Mckay took a chance on him keeping him on the team but taking away his scholarship as punishment for his acts. That also rubbed the father the wrong way. Combined with a year that didn't end the way most people felt it should. The father used certain internet websites to further his undermining of the program and it became rather ugly.

Soucie and Layer would/ will be great additions to the program. Layer did a really good job coaching his team at Colorado St. Being a former head coach will give insight into making McKay's life easier.
Oh did I mention they are stand up Christian guys.

I prefer Sit Down Christian guys when they are assistant coaches. That whole NCAA bench decorum dictum.

YOu just don't want three coaches on the same bench pointing out your obvious errors.

I consider RM and Brad Soucie to be good friends. They are great family men with Christian values which were oft times held against them in the public university setting. They will do a great job at Liberty . In the last few years they had developed strong AAU conenctions in NYC. Don't have to be Joe Geography to know Virginia is a shorter trip than Albq.

Thanks, brooklyn. Its just a matter of utilizing those connections to land players who find a school like LU appealing. We're not for everybody and we know that.
I know Layer recruited Houston extremely well so hopefully these guys continue to work Texas now that they have Lynchburg addresses.

speaking of Lynchburg addresses...I wonder if any of them want to buy my house

One of the assistant football coaches who shall remain nameless lives right accross the street. I am sure he doesn't even know that (or maybe I sent him an email telling him but I can't remember).
