Now that we finally a new man to lead our mens basketball program, its time to bring your welcoming comments right here.

Way to start the welcome with a grammatical error Sly :P. I hope we don't have GMTM holding up mis-spelled welcome signs at the press conference on Monday. BTW the libertyflames.com website has the press conference as Monday March 25th but Monday is the 26th. Yes I am policing all spelling and grammar mistakes on the internet tonight

From looking at his website, McKay seems to be a great fit for Liberty, a person not ashamed of being a Christian!

I'm also excited about his prior head coaching experience, especially his winning record at Colorado State.

I hope that the transition is smooth for his family, and that he finds the right assistants (IMO I hope he keeps Sherard as an assistant).

I can't wait to see the press conference! It looks like exciting times are ahead for LU basketball. Go Flames.

Count me among those who are 100% behind our AD's selection. I'm anxious to experience his infectious personality that I've heard so much about from my compadres in Albucrackee. He's going to have his hands full getting everythign together right away. But it sounds like Barber believes he's the right man for the job.

Bienvenidos a la familia Libertitad! (Hey, he's been working in New Mexico)

Welcome aboard Coach McKay, good luck (oh, and as long as they can play some D1 hoops, bring us as many of those "choir boys" and "Sons of a Preacher Man" as possible, we'll take 'em all) :nod Play Basketball

From http://flamefans.com/forums/viewtopic.p ... c90cb8c2de:
EarlLacker wrote: I do think McKay took a lot of abuse for his beliefs on the message boards -- one of his earliest criticisms was that people thought he recruited only "choir boys" even going as far to disparage one of our best players, Tony Danridge whose father is a pastor, as "Son of a Preacher Man" his freshman year. Look up Tony Danridge on YouTube -- you'll see some of the most gravity defying dunks you've ever witnessed.

Welcome Coach McKay! We will do our best to fill up the Vines Center for you next fall. I can't wait until midnight madness!

Two questions for the board:
1. will the press conference be in the grand lobby in DeMoss?
2. can anywone attend, or do you need a press credential?

Yes...the Grand Lobby. I think it is "open."

I, too, would like to welcome the new coach. I had reservations, but if he's good enough to pass muster with JB...that's good enough for me.

Welcome coach McKay!

You may read or hear a term used around here............................... "Rocco-like".

This is a complimentary reference to the manner in which coach Rocco has resurrected the football program. I'm sure you will be getting to know coach Rocco. The way he handles things, and particularly the way he has made a connection with the student body which has transformed the atmosphere at our home football games is worth taking note of.

Take note of it............................................. and then be yourself!

You've got a great group of players to work with and it's going to be an exciting season!

If past press conferences are any indication, it'll be wide open to any and all.
