BJ Jacobs is a solid kid and a great player. I have personally travelled to watch him play three times, watched a ton of film and have talked to him about coming to Liberty to be a Flame. He has committed to us to play next year. He was being looked at and offered by several different schools. The short list is Indiana, Purdue, and us. Although there were several more showing considerable interest. BJ has terrific range for a shooter I have seen him hit from 25-28 feet. His ability to put the ball in the hole reminds me of Holcomb-Faye. He has phenomenal passing skills and when he develops his ball handling skills a little more I would not be surprised to see him predominately playing the PG position for us.

TDD, like Sly said, it's as official as it can get for someone who's not a early sign'e...once signing day comes we'll find out if it's 100%!

Does he play right away? With Rish, Holland and ASmith playing point at times and figuring in DBrew.. could be a logjam.

That's not what HMO said. I don't believe we'll know who we'll have back on the team until after grades come back.

If we lose some to grades, wonder who will they blame now that they already got Hubbard fired???

What?!?! You obviously have your information backwards. It was b/c of Hubbard so many STAYED eligible. He must have apparently switched to the Dark Side. Or UNCA either one

If you honestly can say that you believe Hubbard did a good job here then please PM me and I'll round up 10-20 names off the top of my head of Student Athlete's who have stayed longer b/c of misdirection, if you give me enough time I'll round up a Top 50 list

Didn't say he did a good job. Just said he kept some athletes eligible, that is all. As for students having to stay longer, that happens in EVERY academic department b/c of inept "guidance" and the inability to understand what all is needed, especially from transfer students

OK--since we've hijacked this, I never said he WAS to blame, all I said is that he WAS blamed, and rumored to have lost his job in part due to problems with MBB, even as MBB has their "own" advisor. Also, every student has a regular academic advisor who they report to, all Hubbard did was help facilitate early registration, tutoring, academic progress reports, and the like. The REAL problem is with faculty who don't take the advising seriously or do not understand the unique needs of the athletes. Hubbard could lead them to water but can't be held responsible for the athletes not taking care of their OWN responsibility. If the athlete is too dumb to wake up, go to class, make up missed assingnments due to road trips, then they deserve to lose eligibility.

Why do you feel so free to say that MBB is responsible for administrative decisions?
Are you so naive as to not realize that employees have their own relationship/performance with their superiors and if not enough credibility is established
within the relationship it may very well mean a change is justified for reasons having
nothing to do with MBB.

Its official ... the thread is hopelessly hijacked.

Hubbard is now long gone and working for a competitor. Lets consider this water under the bridge.

Ultimately the individual athletes are responsible for their actions. As a school we must do whatever we can to offer support. Going over what forced Hubbard out is not productive at this point IMHO.

As for BJ, after seeing the video and checking out his numbers online I'm seriously enthused with his verbal. Now lets get his John hancock on a letter of intent and roll.

Yeah I wouldnt put to much thought into that idea of the Academic Advisers for both bumped heads or something, b/c I think they were about on the same level...if you know what I mean....but like Sly said this is BJ's thread, and if any of these topics need to be revisited I guess we can always start up another thread
