In the midst of the frustration in how the season ended tonight, I think we would be remissed if we didn't pay tribute to one of the greatest players to ever wear the LU jersey.

Larry Blair not only rewrote the record books at LU and the Big South, but he's done it with class and has helped to raise the image of the program across the region.

He's a true gentleman who will be greatly missed by the entire school.

Good luck as you take your game to the next level.

Being a relatively new supporter, I enjoyed watching Larry play in person and Scarvision. Best wishes to Larry where ever his future takes him; I will be rooting for him.

I am too...I was honored to get my picture taken with Larry sometime in the last couple weeks. I'll post it up here once I finish out the roll (yeah I haven't stepped up to digital yet)

Larry was a special player for us...and a good person...he has never had that egotistical athlete attitude a lot of LU athletes have....

like I said in the postmortem thread the performance he had in the Big South Championship game back in 2004 will stick with me for a long time....I still have that game on video tape...and I am sure I will keep it for a long, long time...

LB will be missed

definitely means we will have to play more of a team game and not rely on one player to carry us...also means more playing time for Tyler Baker and others so it will be interesting to see how they step up....

You never wanted to see Blair b/c if he was on he could single handedly win a game. Great competitor. Not sad to see him go!

Heck of a player, and a guy that you knew could take-over a game at any time. As a basketball fan, I really enjoyed watching him play. As a Winthrop fan, I really enjoyed watching him play anyone but Winthrop (because he always seemed to play well against WU...at least at the games I was at)...

yeah, sure. its at my parents house in Florida...they actually taped it and what sucks is they had it on the fast speed so it has it all but the last 20 seconds...which I was mad about for a long time (still am), because I wanted to see how it looked when we stormed the court...

I will see if I can get it sent up here if you want

Talked with Larry after the game tonight, once again what a classy player... The last 4 years have been a blast to cover him and do a one-on-one in the Men's media guide with him the last few years....Always left everything on the floor and never would make any excusses!!!!

haha...sorry Sly....

I wish Larry the best...he is a great person and a very talented player...his size will limit him from playing in the NBA...but I am sure he will still make some money overseas playing basketball for a few years...

I think if Larry can get a chance at NBA summer hoops will definitely have a shot in the fall

maybe...i just can't see it happening...simply because he has a point guard body yet rarely ever played point in college...which I always thought was a mistake...especially with the talent he has, if he learned the point guard position in college, he could've been a sure thing for the nba next season...but since the point guard thing never happened, i have my doubts

Amazing basketball player, and overall a class act...our basketball team will miss him greatly. I just hated that his career had to end on this loss. Best of luck to wherever his amazing basketball skills may take him.

Lying awake last night (I had the hardest time going to sleep, anyone else?) I thought about starting a thread like this. I didn't want him to get overlooked in our doom and gloom from the game; I'm very glad to see it already started (good job Sly  ).

Larry,

Thank you for the Big South Championship in 2004. What an amazing game, what an amazing personal performance by a great freshman!

Thank you for putting the team on your back countless times in the last 4 years, including Winthrop '03, High Point '03, Coastal '04, and I'm sure I'm missing several.

Thank you for not disgracing the name on the front of your jersey, as many athletes do these days.

Thank you for breaking all those records this year, it has been a fun ride.

Thank you Larry.
