The Flames went 7-2 in their final 9 conference games with two tough losses. Great job by all involved to battle through the ups and downs of a season. We are capable of having a strong tournament showing as well. These guys deseve our props and support. Coach D thanks for another winning Big South Conference season. Two road win in places we had not won in for over a combined 23 years is a show of positive direction.

Coach D had this team playing hard the entire time even when they could have packed it up and looked to next year and that deserves credit from everyone...even those with DONE-TON in their sig or any other hater's...no matter what happens from here on out those two road wins deserve credit and the last 9 games for that matter.

apparently you don't read all the posts. I stated in another thread that I was dropping off the sig for the BST. I give Coach D credit for at least not having a repeat of last year, but I think he is still far away from an extension IMO. In other words, lets see what happens in the next week.

I havent read your posts, but I'm glad to hear it I'm also glad you know how to play on both sides of the street, all to often people get "stuck" on one side or the other...the key is understanding both sides....how's that quote go "I walk with King's but don't lose the common touch"

You wont get it b/c with most it's deeper then just Win's and Losses, we could beat WU and you still wont get it

I dont want anyone thinking I'm trying to make this out to be a final four appearance, but they've done well and deserve a "good job" for a 3rd place finish...normally it'll take a few years to bounce back from a year like last, so that deserves another "good job"

I haven't commented on basketball all season, on purpose.

Listen, at 8-6/14-16, it's hard to criticize the coach or the program after last season's results (which were 3-13/7-23, in case you forgot). Very hard. In fact, I'd venture to say that after the 2005 0-4/1-10 season in football was turned around into a 2-2/6-5 season in 2006, none of us have anything bad to say about Coach Rocco. The turnaround in basketball is very similar, and half the folks on this board are still calling for the Dunton's head on a platter. Is that just because he's been around a little longer?

Maybe I'm crazy, but I don't get it.

14-16 is still under .500. 8-6 (7-2 <4 point loss at WU and buzzer beater vs. CCU> in the last 9) is respectable.

The non conference schedule was mixed some cupcakes and some heavyweights.

I think 2 wins this week gets RD a couple more years, 1 win....that will be a coin flip....1 and done...he may be in a little hot water.

I have to think the his entire assistant coaching staff is 2 years and under and they have brought in some much needed depth to the program. Notably Sherard for getting ACE, BJ, Brew, and TJ Ban; not sure on any others. There is alot of depth in the So. and Fr. class combined with the transfers. I think RD should get 2 years, and if he does not win a BS (reg or conf champ.) in those 2 years, then a change would be made (just MO)

The fellers did finish up the season well. I will say that I was more impressed by the VMI road win than the Radford road win. Radford has done what we very easily (and looked like were) done and packed it in and just counting the days till the season is over. I'll probably be there tomorrow b/c I like to see VMI's style and the atmosphere should give us a huge advantage. I win would be a nice cap to the season (or two or three) but a loss would be like a wet noodle

If we win the conference tournament or keep close to Winthrop (I mean under 5 again), I will admit someone needs an extension for a year

I was hoping we could all just enjoy this week without talking about what Coach needs to do to retain his job. Here's to a great week! Go Flames beat VMI!

it will be a big setback for our basketball program if Dunton is not given a contract. the continuity of the current players and staff would be in shambles and going 8-6,12-4,11-5,and 8-6 in the four years of a full roster is not to be scoffed at. how many teams in all of division 1 this year have a .571 conference winning percentage? i know that Dunton feels the recruiting is back to where it was prior to hankinson. it takes time to recover and rebuild trust. Dunton is well liked by many in this community and respected nationally way more than this board gives him credit. but more importantly his faith is in the Lord and his vision for LU hoops strong.

Haha, you are a funny man. I just wish we could wait until after the season is over to finish (hopefully) this discussion, and let the guys and us fans just enjoy this week.

Do you think he accepts a 2 year extension? I think I would ask for more if I were him.

"lureal how many teams in all of division 1 this year have a .571 conference winning percentage?.
To answer that ridiculous question....136 counting LU

That does not include teams in the Big East, ACC, Pac 10 who play in such strong conferences.
