I missed the majority of it but it sounded like we really controlled the boards well, and took them out of their game.

If they're not hitting everything from outside, they don't have a chance.

Also seemed like we outran them

maybe Jason's guys are just worn out?

Ace:

"This is by far the most exciting game I've ever played. Ive never been so tired. I'm just happy we got a road win. I don't care how many pioints I scored."

"It was just about catch and finishing. We just ran regular plays. We focused on defense getting back all week in practice and it paid off tonight."

I think LB had 17 FG vs Coastal but I could be wrong...Alston scored 46 vs Ferrum and we were still officially division II although we played a mostly division 1A schedule that season.[/quote]

Also Alston hit 18 FG in a division II game. Hess hit 18 too. LB has the division 1 record. Also I just noticed that Alston averaged 37 minutes per game on the floor! WOW. No wonder I moved over to point guard. I would have never ever saw the court at the 2 spot. Kinda like playing the 2 guard during the Larry Blair era. Not gonna see the court much... Brew is on pace to shoot 60% on the season. That would be the best perimeter shooting percentage by far for division 1. Top 5 fg% were all big men except Mark Chaffin whoshot 70% as a perimeter player. Chaffin, like Hess is currently an official and resides in Lynchburg (nice bio line right there)

Our team shooting 64% from the field didn't hurt either

In light of what we haven't been able to do on the road, and in light of how big this game was, we have to say that this was a GREAT win! Congrats to the players and staff. Also, did you guys hear Jerry Edwards exclaim "That was a make -up call." "It just ain't right." ( loved it) There will be a home game on Tuesday night! Go Flames !

Was the FG's accomplished this year for LB? I was looking at the media guide. Sorry. And darn why did Jerry steal my thunder. I was watching the video feed with the VMI audio. Oh well. I was excited.

Yes. He broke the record last week on senior night when he dropped 40 on Coastal.

Scar you are right. LB had 17 this year. See, one more ACE FG he would have tied LB and had the NCAA D 1 scoring record.

GREAT ROAD WIN>

SIDs need to be on their toes in a VMI game..you never know what records are going to be broken.

Also, should we beat Radford, and should Coastal lose to Winthrop, we'd be tied for 3rd. I know it wouldn't help in the playoffs, but it would be nice to achieve.

I don't have a list from his freshman year (but I doubt he got a player of the week honor then, it's very rare for a freshman to get it since they have their own award), but it looks like he got player of the week once in his sophomore year (Dec. 13) and once during his junior year (Feb. 26 - co-player of the week w/ Torrell Martin)...

LB has been POW 2 times coming into this season. He was Freshman of the week 3 times and Dees was 3 times that same season for Liberty.

For my first post let me just start by saying that Larry Blair is truly a class act, I have had the pleasure of sitting with him in a few classes and working on group projects together, and as many of you know it is very hard to find anything at all bad to say about him. I'm sure that I am not alone in saying this. This guy has made LU basketball something special for all of us from the day he set foot on campus. Props are deserved also for the rest of the team tonight, as tough as its been to stay positive this year a win and performance like this (despite the fact it was over VMI) may be the catalyst we need heading into Radford and the BSC tourney. We have beaten the West Point rejects twice this year now all we have to do is sweep RU and I may be able to graduate a happy man.

Yeah, just saw the box, 40 and 19 for ACE WOW! The numbers just look amazing.

I don't think we'll beat RU though, we always lose up there.
