Next year

So, taking the coaching situation out of the equation, how do you think we look? I think we have a real solid core returning. I think the Nigerians are coming in next year, yes? So we should have a pretty athletic post when Alex grabs a few fouls. Brew should step it up to be a leader. A scoring leader at least. Our already solid point gaurds will have an entire year under their belt. Everyone will most likely have bulked up.
The million dollar question: How do we replace the (soon-to-be) All time Big South leading scorer? I'd like to think we're gonna be real good next year but I just don't see how we can not skip a beat losing this guy.

Excluding the coaching situation we should be better but it depends on Bannister (point guard from UVA) and the big Nigerian coming in.

The Big South has not the speed and defense that TJ will bring. He is going to be big time for the team. I am afraid that if the staff goes, so will he. That is Sherard's boy from UVA

That's right, I completely forgot about Bannister. I hope there's no issues there with chemistry or the development of our current PGs. Because I'm really happy with the ones we have.

If TJ leaves he would have to move down a level and perhaps risk not playing pro ball over seas because he won't get the exposure he would get playing at the division 1 level. He will not leave IMO regardless of whatever else happens.

I think losing Larry is just what these younger players need. LB is arguably the best player to put on a Flame uniform, but with all respect to the guy, he has horrible shot selection. I know last night he was a phenom, but that is usually the exception. He takes shots that are not in the offensive flow, and will look in the eyes of a wide open teamate, then shoot an off balance shot. With LB gone, Smith, Brew, BJ, Holland get more shots. Larry shouldn't have to score 40 pts to win this year. I can't wait to have a balanced offense.

As one might guess, I believe we will be very strong next year, with TJ and the Big Stud from Nigeria adding to an already very athletic group, and with the benefits of a year of experience at the D-1 & the experience of one another taking them to greater heights.

Amazing the difference one game makes. Yesterday...
...everyone was talking about this year and playing WU in the title game, and today...
...everyone is talking about next year.

This season is not over, yet.
But, next year we should be contending for the championship. Yes, we lose Larry, but I think we still have enough talent for everyone to take a small step forward to pick up the slack.
Point- T.J. Justin
2 guard- Brew B.J.
the 3- Smith Tyler
4- Rell
5- Ace Russ, Lamont, guy from Nigeria
We should be just fine, and with plenty of depth.
But, back to this year for at least a couple of weeks. Then we will have months to look to next year.

Don't bank on Brew being here. He's the one that would leave, not TJ.

I'd imagine that Ace will move into the four. With Russ, Lamont or one of the Nigerians coming in to play the 5. I'm not counting on Brew being here next year unless one of the guys on our current staff is promoted (IF RD does not return).
PG - TJ, Justin Holland
SG - Smith, Jenkins
SF - Brew, Baker
PF - Ace, Rell
C - Nigerians, Russ, LaMont
That's probably our best lineup, IMO, with Brew.. without, Rell probably starts at the 3 or Smitty moves to the 3 and BJ starts at the 2.. that would leave us very small in the backcourt, though.

We will be better than this years team

Really? I guess I don't understand the point of transferring. If he's fine with Europe (and believe me, there's good money for bball players in europe) then why not just go after PC?

I stated that almost 2 months ago.....just another prediction come true

Brew only had one child after leaving PC, he now has two if I'm not mistaken. I could be wrong.
Being paid that type of money to play a game you love and be able to support your family is very tempting. How many of us in his situation would go back to a place they probably didn't like for a year when you could be set financially?

TJ is very athletic, but let us not label HIM the next messiah either. I am fairly certain the BS hasn't seen the athleticism and speed of Carl Williams either, but he didn't pan out all that well

Just a little note: I spoke of next year because it was the thread - certainly not because I have in any way given up on this year.
And I sure hope Brew comes back. BTW, a degree is not something to scoff at.

Do you have a source for that sentiment? It seems the people who say he isn't have some credible ones
Have you seen TJ play

He certainly held his own in the ACC. I think he will be great for his senior year. As for Brew, word is he is coming back next year. He may a little down on RD but Brew goes through phases.

brew is all about his playing time as with most. he is our worst one on one perimeter defender. smitty draws the toughest match. the word is that brew is really working to improve in practice. so before we again characterize as someone being down on coach maybe it is because there is a demand to defend somebody and not just let jack leasure waltz by you off the wing.

That is funny how Smith is such a great defender and Brew is such a bad defender.....
Their stats are almost exactly the same.....except Smith averages more fouls a game and plays about 3 minutes more a game than Brew
Brew wants PT, and also he deserves it over everyone else on the team

Please explain to me what stats you are looking at to compare how a player locks down another teams best player.....fouls and minutes have no bearing.....ill ask for clarification instead of riddling this post with insults.
