Hey guys,

Below you will see Coach Randy Dunton's response to my note of encouragement. I thought it was awesome that he responded to my email. Hope this will encourage you guys as well. I thought it would be awesome if we would all email the coach our support for him and the team.

Hi Coach,

You may remember me when I shaked hands with you after beating St Francis at the Buffalo Chicken restaurant. Just wanted to say that you are doing a great job turning around a team that was struggling to find their identity in the middle of the season. Good luck the rest of the way as I look forward to seeing this team mature in the next three weeks leading to the Big South Tournament. I definitly believe we can win!!!

Sounds like Dunton is going GDub on us.

We're going to stay the course.

Coach is a class act and will always try to do what is best for the university and serve people.

Actually, I am going to say something. Dunton is a head basketball coach. What are his priorities right now. Win, and keep his job. Lets not try to canonize him by saying that all he is trying to do is better the university and serve people. Give me a break. He is trying to keep food on the table and pay the mortgage. The last 5 games have been much better, and I give him credit for making some necessary adjustments, but come on guys, he is not Mother Theresa

mrich......come on, he might not get paid coach k's salary, but I am sure he is putting plenty of food on the table (look at him in a suit, he is obviously not lacking food). He is here to [Edit: Let's not make accusations like this in a public forum - Sly] in order to keep his job.....

All I care about is the former....

fact is that dickens has printed untruths about dunton. fact is he cries like a baby when he gets called out. fact is the program has made progress. matthews your demands that only a big south championship will do are unfair in comparison to other sports at LU. opinion about coaching style are one thing and certainly don't violate prov 6 but rather you like it or not creating a heighten climate through lies is wrong rather you think spiritual conclusion have any merit or not. God will balance the score and we reap what we sow. we certainly have a chance to win the championship and i am confident the guys will be prepared. we need some breaks as in every tourney, the effort and coaching will be there.

Why should this year of [everything that Sly edited out] be different than every other year under Dunton?

We're pretty laid back around this board but we've also had some fairly spirited debate here and there. None of it has resulted in us having to really clamp down on threads via locking, deleting, etc. so far. However, these personal attacks against the coach and each other are wrong and should end immediately.

Debate, talk basketball, talk coaching, talk athletics, but don't talk bad about each other.

Once again.....the facts say that Dunton is a bad coach

That is not a lie if you base it on facts, just b/c you tremble at his feet does not make you an authority......
What is wrong with a big south championship??? When is 1st place a bad thing??
Do you guys watch basketball atleast?? I don't mind being called out on something, but you have to actually have proof to back it up...

I bring up one thing lureal......What makes Dunton a good coach??

I want facts....not "I like him cause he said hey to me" comments, the things typical from you and OX.

I have not created a heightened climate through lies... I haven't lied about Coach Dunton. The only thing I've basically said is that we need a new coach... that's my opinion, and I made a group that 60 other people at Liberty agree with me. Your accusations of me being a liar is what you need to evaluate.

I log on everyday, and read these crazy posts about everyone bashing either the koolaide drinkers or the haters. One side debates saying we wnat to win the big south, the other side debates saying we have won a big south title. What do you guys want, us to win the Big South title every year like the women? That's not going to happen anytime in the forseeable future. Men's hoops is much different than women's. One title every 4 years is not bad. I would be happy if every one of our sports had one big south title every 4 years at minimum. We are not going to go from winning one title a decade to winning one every year.
