Blair To Be Honored Prior To Tip With VMI Tonight

Senior Larry Blair is set to be honored prior to the men’s basketball game against VMI tonight.

On December 9, Blair scored 18 points en route to passing Peter Aluma for the most career points by a Liberty player during the Division I era. Blair, who is 32 points away from becoming the third player in Liberty and Big South history to score 2,000 career points will be honored for passing Aluma.

When Blair reaches 2,000 points, he will become the 429th player in NCAA Division I basketball history to accomplish the feat.

Tip against VMI is set for 8:30 p.m. at the Vines Center.

This is what you guys were all asking for. I knew they would eventually. How manymore points does he need for 2,000? By my math it's 2. Hopefully they will have it planned to honor once he gets there.

great to see you and the Mrs in the Vines last night...Yes you are correct. He needs 2 points to get to 2000! What a milestone. I think he only needs to average under 16 now to get the big south scoring record. Ironically he has never won a regular season title but he will be the all time leader. Reggie Williams is gonna shatter that mark however so I hope LB enjoys it while it lasts We got to see 2 of the better players to ever play in the conference go at it last night. Williams has never gotten his due in this league because he plays for VMI but I would say he is one of the tougher players Smitty, Porter and Brew have had to guard this season and that includes ALL the teams we have played this year.

We must have had some high scoring teams in the late 70s and early 80s. I was just checking the top 10 scorers all-time here, and 3 of the top 5 (not including Larry and Aluma) scorers all-time were from 75-83. Would have been fun to see those teams play. I know it was at a lower level than now, but still impressive.
