Blair a force in Big South

Larry Blair doesn't get the attention many with his statistics would this season.

His Liberty team (8-12, 2-4 Big South) is struggling, overshadowed by the likes of Winthrop, High Point and Coastal Carolina.

But the senior point guard and Charlotte native is racking up accomplishments.

Blair (6 foot, 185 pounds) leads the Flames in scoring, averaging 19.4 points, fourth-best in the conference. He also averages 3.8 rebounds and 3.1 assists and is shooting a league-best 86.6 percent from the free throw line.

He should make a run for conference player of the year. He was first-team Big South the past two seasons, including last year, when he led Liberty in 16 statistical categories. He was Big South freshman of the year in 2003-04.

Blair's streak of 63 consecutive starts for the Flames ended this month when he was pulled from the starting lineup after missing the team bus for a game at High Point. After driving himself to the game, the graduate of Camden (S.C.) Military Academy scored a game-high 24 points and played all but three minutes, but Liberty lost 77-71.

They didn't mention any of the milestones LB has approached or surpassed including all time big south scoring champion and 2000 career points. You could go on and on listing his numbers though.
