To keep the thread going, perhaps JF needs to open the bank vault for Tubby Smith. He is certain to be gone from Kentucky after this year.

Kentucky to LU? Seems a bit of a stretch.

Sure it is, but I wanted to keep the thread alive.

No problems with discussing possible candidates but the last thread was headed the wrong way. Let's keep this one centered around possible coaches and not Dunton.

I still like the idea of bringing in MARK PHELPS from Arizona State (and previously NC State), who used to coach at Atlantic Shores Christian School in the VA Beach area.

I have heard a few people mention the idea of looking for an ACC or SEC assistant, and I think that would be a good direction. What about Tommy Amaker? If he dosen't make the NCAAs this year he is most likely out at MI.

I think we need to get former Vermont coach Tom Brennan away from ESPN and get him coaching LU.

We can throw around all the names we want, but if the candidate does not possess Liberty values, then forget it. The ideal person to lead the team will also walk the walk, without breaking into profanity-laced tirades.

I just think they should dump Dunton and have Sherard or Jones take over as interim and see how they do until they can find a good replacement.

Is Sherard considered the top assistant?

We should keep Dunton on for the rest of the season. He has earned that right, but JB should begin taking applications.

Canning a guy mid-season is a crushing psychological blow for the team.

you're basically saying- we give up. Go ahead and mail it in.

not gonna happen

Not necessarily. How often do you see a school announce they're going to release the coach after the season, but he's allowed to coach the rest of the season, and the team plays better. It happens all of the time.

Slightly different situation as I'm sure you know. Also didn't hurt that Glen Rice played 6 straight games in which he just couldn't miss if he tried.
