I am afraid there is no longer any doubt that Liberty must look for a new coach and a new direction for the program, so who are some of your suggestions for a replacement??? I saw somebody mention Bob Davis in the UNCA post, and I must admit, he has an UNBELIEVEABLE resume. Not to mention what he is doing right now is nothing short of a miracle. I also thought about Nick Saban....but I think Davis would be cheaper. So what do you guys think about Davis, and who are some other possibilities???

I don't have any names to throw at you but we need to get an assistant in the major college ranks like the ACC or the SEC or at least someone with the descent qualifications to do the job. Dunton's qualifications just don't merit a head coaching position at the division 1 level. LU's athletic dept. needs to open up their wallets and get off of their "Low horse" and start taking this thing seriously if we are going to get out of just competing in the Big South. To turn this thing around you have got to start at the top.

Am I missing something with coach Davis? I thought he was coaching at a school in Texas. What has he done that was unbelievable? I am not knocking him, I just am unaware of what you guys are talking about. As far as replacing RD, this may be a bit pre-mature to talk about with 15 games left in the season but I understatn the frustrations with this latest losing streak.

Alexis Sherard is from UVA!!!! How much more do you need.......When I heard about him being on board here, I thought he would become the predecessor of this team.

I don't think we could go wrong with either Zack or Alexis. But I'm starting to wonder how much life Dunton has left.

JF would want to make a splash. What about Pete Gillen? I understand he was around a bit as an observer or something and knows JF. Perhaps someone with SC connections? In a roundabout way, to make a connection, one of the VA Tech assistants (Ryan Odom) is the son of the SC Head Coach.

Actually, he still lives in the C'ville area and would like to stay in this "area". As for money, NO ONE is too expensive for JF. Liberty Truism #304 "Liberty University has money for what Liberty University WANTS to have money for."

Frankly, not that I want it to happen, but I have always wondered how Carey Green would do coaching the men? There has to be an assistant somewhere in a big time program that is a believer, and would love the chance to get a head coaching postion. But then again, do we want somone with collegiate head coaching experience. I do not think any our assistants have the experience that we need, maybe I'm wrong. There is somone who can make our program successful, just look at ORU. There is no reason why we shouldn't be as good or better than them. I want to win, but please no contract extentions.

[quote="SCAR"]Am I missing something with coach Davis? I thought he was coaching at a school in Texas. What has he done that was unbelievable?...

300 + wins as a collegiate head coach. OR Taking a team from Eastern Wyoming that had never had success and leading them to nine conference championships in fifteen years. OR Taking his current job at LeTourneau University, a program that has won roughly 20% of its games, and now in his second year he has them on their way to their first winning season in ten years....

And I don't think that it is mere coincidence that Liberty has been mediocre at best since he left...

On a side note, Coach Leary was also a terrible loss for the program. He was an tremendous recruiter.

I LOVED Bob Davis, how could you not? Add to that Coach Hair Gel Martin (It always made SCAR jealous) and Stephon, and that was a pretty good staff. Don't know about this one, don't know enough about them. But the experience on THAT staff was unbelieveable!!! And Bob can't be having that much success yet because his team hasn't had time to gel yet :P

Stephon Leary, I think is waiting for LU to call him about the job...I tried to get a hold of him last week to talk and it never happened.

I know it's a long shot, but years ago Coach RICK REEVES was interviewed at halftime of a game and expressed interest in returning to LU to coach the MEN. For those of you who don't know, Reeves was our women's coach before Coach Green and had tremendous suceess here and loved Liberty. His only problem was that his team was so successful that it made the men's team look bad in comparison.

Coach Reeves is very happy at GW with our former AD Chuck Burch, he isn't going any where any time soon.

Does anybody remember the name of the Florida assistant coach that we ALMOST hired instead of Hankinson?

I wonder where he is now and if he's still interested in the job.

If a move is made, certaintly Dr. Falwell would look to make a splash. Rocco wasn't neccesarily a "splash" but made perfect sense and obviously worked out for the university.

Guillen certaintly fits the splash criteria.
